HELP!!!
« on: May 09, 2011, 08:49:30 pm »
Was coming back from trafford center today, doing xxmph, decide to go for WOT and the car just gave me nothing but a loud noise. The noise is the exhaust popping very quickly if i had to describe it.

I get some boost, can drive normally just no WOT or heavy acceleration!

Im thinking boost leak?? What else could it be?

Does anyone have a VCDS cable i can borrow in the north west? I'm getting my car on ramps tomorrow so i can check all the pipes but would like to log too.

Oh and i suppose to be going to Germany in 3days!!!!!

i think jay has it too, although he might not want to put it through his books!  :P (sly banter with jay)    :innocent:

oh and edd, i hate to say it but sounds like your turbo might have gone? normally after a major boost leak is detected by the ecu it goes into limp mode. and then when you start it up it will work again fine untill its detected again, thats what mine did...

then when toms went at the ring it wouldnt work at all  :fighting2:

Im now getting a flashing check engine light under hard acceleration.

ok so i have a misfire on cylinder 2.....what i didn't do was swap the coil pack and see if it moves cylinders!

despite getting 4 new coilpacks on Thursday morning im going to buy one tomorrow to replace the faulty one to see if that resolves the issue.

Many thanks to topcat, john o and eccie for your help today!
