....I slowed when I saw your headlights approaching very fast. Talking of which, later in my journey I spotted the full beam lights of what turned out to be a bike with side-by-side twin headlights which from a distance made it look like a car. It came past me on some straight dual carriageway at what must have been 160mph+!! Sounded something like a Ducati - Not a high revving Jap jobby. You got to have some bollox to ride that fast - But if he hit a badger, fox, or even a rabbit, he'd be instantly squashed roadkill himself.

....Methinks it tested your brakes and reactions which I noticed were very fast. It also confirmed to me my good sense in never following too close - It would have been very tempting to do that overtake 'with' you and hence stay with you more easily afterwards. I think you were possibly (I may be wrong) relying on seeing oncoming headlights spill from around the long bend < Never trust it mate - Too many characters running around with only one headlight working too.

I was partially relying on that, but also the fact the road was pretty much dead. But yes, it is a guessing game at night

....At the risk of sounding the age I actually am, whether day or night I never ever do that guessing game - It's not worth it even if I already have had a full life and haven't so much left to lose.

I agree. The guessing game isnt worth playing. If its not 100% clear, dont overtake. It did make me jump last night so lesson learned!
