Sidelights as DRL's
« on: May 19, 2011, 08:39:24 am »
I have been looking on the VW web site, but it is not very clear what they turn on as DRL's on a mark 5 GTI with Xenons. I have just fitted some LED sidelights which look great, so they would look good as DRL's. Has anyone else gone down this route, thanks

Like you I have just fitted some super bright LED's, they are so much brighter than the OE yellow's.I have been driving around on my sidelights now,as they are bright enough to look.like DRL !

Im temped to do that but dont want the back lights on, im gonna give VW a call soon as they advertise on their web site accessories setting lights to DRL's.
But it doesnt state which lights they set, would make sense to be the side lights, i assume its just a setting through Vagcom.

Is this not just for the Mk6? I didnt think the Mk5 had the facility to run DRLs?

Where Napoleons armies marched with horse and musket and Hitlers Reich crumbled in blood and rubble, the warriors of Armageddon do battle against the landscape of hell now indeed thrive the ARMOURERS

I will speak to VW this weekend, its in the acessories part for the MK5 that they can switch existing lights to DRL's, but doesnt state which lights they turn on. Sidelights would be good as i fitted the LED ones that someone on here suggested and they look great.

I dont really want to start adding extra lights that are not standard.

I would be interested to know if this is possible to have the front side constantly illuminated, keep us posted.  :happy2:
