Polaroid sunglasses

Having previously had reactive sunglasses, I recently went and bought some polaroid ones. Never had them before so when I put them on today, it was quite weird. Looking straight ahead was okay, as was through the front passenger window. But if I looked at the driver's front window or the rear window, there was a squared/chequered pattern.

Bit weird but is this due to the glass being polarised too? Or is it some other effect?

I imagine some of you must have noticed this effect?

It's pretty standard Stealth as I wear polarised sunglasses for driving.

Can't explain it though. :ashamed:

not sure i noticed that effect but one pair of glasses i have shuts out the display on the cd display and the ipod dsplay too....... :stupid:

Yep.. thats because the light that the screen emits is polarised, same happens on any LCD display

Aye polarising filters are a pain

Thats why an LED or OLED screen on an HU is the way forward!

Polarised glasses are the dogs, the fact you cannot see LCD displays is a small price to pay for the shame vision of sharks. They take the reflection out of everything so you can see the surface, god send when driving and the sun is reflecting off cars straight into your eyes. Looking at different windscreens when driving you will notice nearly all Renaults have a purple UV screen and others have weird diamond patterns on. Makes you look at things differently!

Yeah for sure. I've worn them for only ten minutes. I'll start wearing them on the way to work and see if I can get used to them.  :laugh:

I wear Oakley polarised prescription (varifocal) lensed sunglasses. Any strange patterned sights are quite soft and don't present any problems. Some car windscreens look purple tinted. The Oakleys have their own patented optical technology and a much wider angle of effectiveness. They are very restful to wear and although are sunglasses, I can wear them in all daylight conditions including overcast, and with no loss of clarity.

I have a pair of Ray-Ban Avaitors with prescription polarised lenses ... they are truly great  :smiley:  

I suffer with loads of headaches and when wearing polarised sunglasses in bright conditions I just don't get the same number of headaches - which is great .... or is it that I wear them when I'm not near the wife  :laugh:

I've got a pair of polarised ray bans and don't stop wearing them when driving as I don;t get any headaches after a long drive wearing them unlike normal sunglasses, one of the best purchases I've made.

I've been wondering about the patterns for a while as it appears worse on some cars than others and def need the RNS with LED display so i don't have to keep moving them to be able to see the radio when playing with it..

I also wear them all year round and get some strange looks when wearing them when the sun comes out after a massive downpour in winter or when its frosty, lol

....Me too!

I have perfected the art of slipping them just slightly down my nose so I have eye contact when talking to some girlies so they don't think I'm perving on their breasts etc....  Usually  :wink:
