Pretty sure they do only do the screw in one but if you are doing the brute force replacement then you don't put the screws in and just rely on the clip.

To be honest I couldn't see how it clipped in but it does!  almost two years now and hasn't moved at all.

Basicly i went back to vw and had a look at the light, but i still couldnt see any clips on the light so i didnt buy it. But does anyone have a photo of one before they fited it? Or of one they have taken out?

Thanks

Tom

Ditto! I didn't believe for a second when I saw the clip on the new light that it alone would hold the light in place. But 2 months later and it's still in there!

you could always get some double sided tape (like used for numberplates)  if you don't think it will stay in just to be on the safe side.

Bathroom sealant, now that is a good idea I never thought of. Although you would expect the revised version of the light to have improved ingress protection. After I fitted mine I fired my rear squirter and it covers the underside of the lense! Utterly crap design, looks like VW have spotted the problem though and remedied on the mk6 golf, it squirts from the top down now!

My car hasnt had a rear wiper for about a year so it cant be from that, must just be water ingress from somthing else, i just hopeit is this and nothing else is wrong as iv never seen water in the unit or sny moisture, hmmm you would hope it would be but you never no so im going to seal it anyway :) lol

Yeah, £41 inc vat.

I used a drill to start on the old light, did the whole thing in 20-25 mins being very careful so as not to damage to any paint, the hardest bit is breaking the back of the old light around the 2 retaining screws.

Been meaning to do this on my car too but it passed the MOT so wasn't in a rush... once i've broken off the red lense is it just a case of forcing the old unit out to break it free of the old retaining screws? any advice on this? pull on the outer edges left and right or top and bottom?

Thanks

Dave
