Revision D Divertor Valve
« on: May 24, 2011, 01:13:27 pm »
05 GTi.  Is there any way that I can check if I have the old diaprhram version fitted in my car without taking it to a garage?  I'm not mechanically minded and was wondering if there is an easy way to do this before I purchase the newer version.  I live in Suffolk if any one is available to help.  Cheers.

Unfortunately you'll need to remove the dv to check its revision. This means you'll have to get under the car and remove the 3 holding bolts.
Without traction power is nothing!

I think if you jack it up there should be a part number on it which will end in B,C or D, but by doing this you may as well take it to a garage.

Is the dv underneath ? I thought there's a how to on here that says move air box to right or is that just on edition 30's?

Yea they relocated the dv on the engines with the ko4 turbo ( edition 30 / Audi s3 / seat Cupra ) to the front of the engine and the normal gti there are bolted to the turbo. I think one of the vrs lads did a how to on relocating the dv to the front on the normal ko3 turbo engine.   :happy2:

Using my mates ramp at weekend to check my subframe bolts, tempted to use this time and give it a check over!

Has to be removed to check i dont think you will manage to read the part number off without taking it off.  Only problem with that is you will need to refit the part and go through it all again or buy in advance not knowing if its needed, being an 05 and if its been in normal hands (not a forumite) then its probably on its original one and will be diaphram.  My 05 reg was MY06 I changed mine over despite no damage car felt different afterwards worthwhile doing and good to do it yourself.

5Dr Black GTI, DSG, Leather, Xenons. Retrofitted - Cruise, RNS 510, MFSW, Armrest, Skoda BT, 6cd changer, Monza II's, VW speaker upgrade kit, Lux pack, High-line, new CAN gateway, Polar FIS info display, R32 tinted rear lights, RVC
