What to put in my show bag?
« on: May 26, 2011, 04:51:21 pm »
Hi guys,
As recently getting into showing the car a little bit recently, the wife bought me a megs travel bag to put all the kit in.
So far have just got some pro quik detail spray and a cloth for it, was wondering what other products people would suggest that I can apply when at the shows to get rid of any travel dirt and just get the motor looking as good as I can without having to use all of the more intense cleaning products that I would put on at home?  :happy2:

Autosol and a wrag for your tail pipes. They have a habit of looking shabby after a short drive :happy2:

AG Vinyl and Rubber (or equiv.) to detail all the rubber trim and engine bay.

+1 for ONR.

Optimum No Rinse, which is a rinseless wash product, but a pain as you still need water ideally (although you can mix up a QD solution)

Your best bet is the newer Optimum Opti Clean, which is ideally suited to safely cleaning a car after travelling to a show:

http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/optimum-opti-clean-18oz-cleaner-and-protectant.php?manufacturers_id=55

Add a decent quick detailer, and as suggested above, tyre dressing and metal polish, along with a glass cleaner and possibly a spray wax, and you're sorted.

I have some Opti Clean if you want to try it out before buying some :)

Which products are you using on your car?

I used to be indecisive.......... but now I'm not so sure!

Have a look at the eco-detailing section over on DW. There's quite a fanbase for ONR.

Have got some pro quik detailer, not used it yet though.
Think trim dressing such as blacking the door rubber and those parts is probably best left to do at home.

So on the list now,
tyre blacker and applicator
Autosol and a rag
Window cleaner

Think that should do me nicely.

I cringe at the thought of people using quick detailer after driving to a show. Rubbing dust/flies into their paintwork.

If i couldnt wash my car there fully first, i wouldnt use any additional products on the car.

Deako, look into ONR. It's essentially waterless wash. Or at least, you don't need a hosepipe!

I think it would really depend how dirty the car got on the way to a show.

You still need to get your hands on 2 gallon of water. Might as well wash it properly if you can get your hands on that, and then just rinse off with a watering can instead.
