My black Edition 30!
« on: May 27, 2011, 06:20:54 pm »
Okay, so I've finally got my Edition 30 back and working fine.

I've bought a few small mods for it , some of which are on, and some of which are waiting to go on.  I'm also pretty decided on my long term plans for it.

So, the car itself was black, 3dr, manual and totally standard.

First up mod wise, I've gone for:

- P-Torque remap increasing power to 314bhp and 319lb/ft
- Replacement VW Golf mats
- Eibach Sport Line lowering springs (to be fitted)
- VW Polo Aerial
- 'GTI' Richbrook Tax Disc holder (to be fitted)
- Edition 30 Front badge
- 35% rear tints
- VW RNS510 Sat Nav system (in the post!)
- 4300K HID kit with LED Sidelghts

Polo Aerial (about half the size of the original!)

35% Rear Tints (£60 and a great job!!!)

Edition 30 badge:

The springs have been delivered and waiting to go on tomorrow and I've set tomorrow and Monday aside for doing a full correction detail on it - write up coming soon!

Today, I gave it a quick wash, then had a play with Auto Finesse Rejuvenate and Menzerna Powerlock.

Few quick finished pics:

It scrubbed up pretty well, but it's in dire need of a proper detail!

Future plans at this stage, all of which will be on by the end of June are:

- Either KW V1's or Bilstein B16 shocks (which I can use with the Eibachs)
- Refurb on the wheels, possibly anthracite
- Milltek Catback Exhaust
- Whiteline Anti Lift Kit
- Whiteline Rear Anti Roll Bar
- 4 x Michelin Pilot Sport 3's in 225/40/18
- Personal plate
- S3/Cupra front brake set up

I'm also possibly tempted to go down the Stage 2+ route (360hp!) but it's plenty quick for now!

Any other suggestions mod wise very much welcomed! I'll be adding Xenon's at some point

Thanks for looking,
Russ.

Nope lol!

There was a rogue bolt from the cambelt change done by a main dealer in Feb, which the cambelt was catching on and wearing away on!  It's had another cambelt, pulleys and water pump, all under warranty luckily.

Nice motor mate  :happy2:

I'm thinking of getting my pescies done in anthracite too but they're pretty mint at the moment.....waiting for that dreaded curb to force the decision!

Thanks :)

These are already curbed thanks to the previous owner, so it's kind of forced my decision.  I can get them done in this colour pretty cheaply at a local place, but fancy something a bit darker as the amount of brake dust I'm getting is ridiculous, so hopefully it will hide it a bit!

I can get them done for £100 or so, so not too fussed if I don't like them, I'll just get it changed again I guess.  Tempted by some CH reps too which my mate can sell to me silly cheap, and save the Pescara's

looks even better than it did last week in those pics mate.
Good decision on the RNS, a great mod, ( and makes the dash look so much better than the cheap RCD300 that's in there now)
Look forward to seeing the future mods coming out.

PS; Where did you go for the tint? that price is great, may get my rear 3 done for that much.

Worth looking at the tyre threads, I have stayed with Pirelli P Zero's.

I also had PS2's on my previous car and through they were very good. Only realised when reading that the PS2's are a higher performance tyre than PS3.

The Michelin Pilot Supersports have replaced and improved the PS2, these could be very special.

Thanks Al :)  Should look a fair bit sharper once I've hit it with the rotary.  I've done part of a panel and it comes up so well, such a lovely metallic!

The tint place is in Wolves, about 2 mins from City Centre.  £60 is 'mates rates' but I should be able to get it for you.  They are 35% light through, but he can do whatever you want.  I kind of regret not going a touch darker, but these look very OEM

Thanks for the heads up.

I ran both PS2 and PS3 on my Megane R26 previously, which was driven pretty hard.  I'd say the PS3 is the better all round tyre as the grip was significantly better in the wet, and very little performance difference in the dry (although PS2 was probably a touch better).

I'm keen to try Sport Contact 5P's out, but not sure if they are available in our size yet.

Looks very tidy mate!

Where abouts are you having your springs fitted? I have a set of H&R's here to go on but have been too skint to get them fitted/tracking re-done so they are teasing me in the box still until I can get them fitted for a good price!

My mates doing them today for me for free.

Are you local?  They would probably do yours for £30 or so!
