Well to say conditions for my first drive were less than ideal would be an understatement, the temp gauge showed -1c and the snow had been falling for 15 mins
To say I was a little apprehensive would be true as I wasn't really sure what to expect from how this kit would change the car.
Keith had brought the car over to KPM in Silverstone, both Kev and Pie's had been out in the car on one of the many calibration runs Keith had been doing that day, they both said I was in for a treat and Kev in not a man to BS you with stuff like this.
From the off set the car felt eager and ready to go and the trip up the farm access road from the industrial estate KPM are based on confirmed the low down drivability was as per the norm expected from the TFSI lump.
Getting out onto the first dual carriageway slip road in 3rd gear I pressed the go pedal and was glad I was holding on tight, the spool of the turbo was smooth but punchy and far quicker than I expected
The diff was left fighting for traction, so going to full throttle in 3rd wasn't something to be tried again in these conditions
Continuing on through the rush hour traffic didn't give much more chance to full experiment with the new setup but a run off the next roundabout, and by short shifting to avoid losing too much traction, felt way more powerful than the previous K04 setup.
So back to the workshop and Keith has the feedback from the logs from his last run and all way good with the setup, a final tweak to the calibration was completed to bring a bit more power to the mid range and the job was done.
Really can't wait for a proper run out in the car in the day light without snow on the road
