Thanks for the info and offer Alex  :happy2:

APR are supplying the parts already as part of an agreement I have to gradually get the car to Stage 4 spec (and before anyone comments I am paying for these upgrades  :P)

Whats stage 4?  Thats a GT30 isnt it?  Id have expected to see you drop the compression ratio especially for that added safety.

Keith said hes going to be heading towards stage 4 on his R.  With the grip that motor has on ROAD tyres i dread to think what it would do with an extra 100Hp and semi slicks!!!  Good job you use slicks on track steve :scared:

The default turbo for stage 4 is the GT3071, but can still use the GT28 (as that's what APR previously did), there is no point me going too far with front wheel drive as the traction will really start to be an issue.

The main thing Stage 4 brings over stage 3 is the full low pressure fuelling upgrade, internals and gas flowed / ported head, in the US they are seeing 480+ wheel HP  :rolleye:

With the new 235/40/18 semi slicks I fitted today (Federal 595 RSR's) I no longer have the same 3rd traction issues as before, and maybe with some wider fenders then I can go to 245 or 255, but as you say I have full slicks for the track (which are 240/650/18's).

My current thinking is to do the rods and then recalibrate to see maybe another 15-20bhp, and if required do the LP fuelling stuff if that starts to become the weak point.

At present the logs show the fuelling is running really well on my car (injector runtime and LP pressure still have plenty of head room), timing is OK and the turbo isn't at capacity either.

how are you finding it for lag.  To me i found the K04 in the Golf R to be quite laggy at low revs compared to the golf cart.

I cant imagine what 480WHP would be like!!  So with your car running full cgae, slicks and track setup are you thinking of entering something abit more competitive like time attack...

No plans as yet to do anything competitive but never say never

The lag is OK, it does come on boost later than a K04 but for what i use the car for I am very very rarely "off" boost on the track.

The next few days at the ring will be the real test for me  :driver:
