Mass Airflow Meter Sensor failure...
« on: May 28, 2011, 02:16:02 pm »
car broke down this morning, it would start but cut out again straight away.

Towed it to local revo dealer who kindly ran it through vcds, unplugged sensor and hey presto it runs albeit i cant drive it hard.

Does anyone know where I could get one of these before Tuesday (stealers parts divsion go home at 1230) and if not doe sanyone know roughly how much they are - am guessing £60-80?

Thanks

in the north west.

i think a couple of the fault code numbers are written down in car will go find them.

Alex - do you think it could be anything to do with fact that on my "copy" bdm induction kit the correct pipe with mounting bracket is not being used so maybe metal on metal has touched and shorted the sensor?

have you had chance to make up any of the brackets yet?

how do you mean, was your fault something else and you did not need to change sensor?

5699 only relates to a fault stored in another control unit.

The 4243 code is for fuel pressure.

these are £110 plus vat i think for a original one as it will have to be! also put a new air filter in if you are running standard set up as mine would still run but with a rough idle which the mechanic couldnt work out until we changed the £8 airfilter in it and it ran just great! Which he said he has never known a filter to make  such a difference!

i have just recently had the same problem, new maf fitted along with a new stock air filter and its fine again, got to admit this type of engine seems fragile regarding remaps and air filters,i have remapped my cupra r and my a3 sline and a cupra ibiza tdi none had any problems at all,am now scared to touch this engine  :scared:
