USS George Bush
« on: May 30, 2011, 01:00:11 am »
Currently sat in Stokes Bay off Gosport. Fook me is it big.

The photos really don't do it justice. I am told there are 42 F18s , 8 SH60s and 3 E2s on deck.  :surprised:

Why take only a few planes if to the other side of the world when you can take them all. Bring back HMS Ark Royal.  :ashamed:

back in 2001 i was doing a spot of sailing around the solent and the USS Nimitz was anchored up.  You need to see it to believe it, really jaw dropping when you see it.  i think they carry more fighter aircraft than our airforce have full stop iirc.

Yup tis funny who you meet.
There was me looking for a bit of dogging action and who should turn up.....

The car park was very busy with lots of nuggets parked half on the beach and half on the access road effectively making the access road single track.

We did see a shining example of Mondeo ownership complete with GT1 rear wing and dragons down the side.
I would have taken a picture but the owners were still in it.  :scared:

Don't fink so Robin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_George_H.W._Bush_(CVN-77)

The Vulcan normally needs approx 6000ft to land even if she flashes her Knickers. :ashamed:

Also the Vulcan weighs 40 tons so might struggle to get back out again.

....I didn't think she would but if it was possible the thought of seeing it would be quite exciting! Let the V meet the bush!

Damn, wish I'd seen this. I'd have headed down there yesterday to take some piccies. Those US supercarriers are something else entirely  :chicken: and they've got a dozen of them!  :scared: The air wing is 92 aircraft total IIRC... how many aircraft does the RAF operate?
