The F**KING turbo has let go (i hope its only the turbo) We were coming up a hill going for an over take on a duel carrigeway and it just lost power, felt / heard something metal like drop down and bounce under the car and then began to smoke / whirr / sound like a siren!! Joined AA on the side of the road and got picked up and dragged to my mums house up here in the lakes. Many MANY thanks for Gaz to actually turn around after going past and check we were all ok  :congrats: (Sorry if i wasnt talkative!!)

23K miles and its gone!

On other news got my MFSW and cruise control, my brother fitted it with no problems. MFSW has been coded no problems but cruise control isnt working but we know why. Cant be fecked going to sort it now, need to work out how much it will be to be fixed, where to be fixed and how to get my car back to Bolton

Cheers, thanks very much. Will give places a ring around tomorrow, too late to it now! My brother knows a couple of people with low loaders who should hopefully be able to bring it back down. I hope there is no engine damage as there is no oil left! Dipstick is pretty much dry

Is there any way of telling which turbo i have without physically taking it off? I presume the turbo is at the very back of the engine and out of reach?

Just trying to work out where to get it rebuilt, any recommendations?

Cheers

Feel for you. My turbo went on my GT TDi 140 too. As it shat itself it took the oil cooler and cat with it. Had mine at Hawco group vw. £1100 for turbo alone. Total bill of a little over £3k! And that was with 10 hours labour knocked off!!
Let's hope it's only the turbo that's went.

It revved upto about 3.5k and then went pop. We pulled over and it would only rev to 2k and then turned it off and left it.
