Localised paint repair
« on: June 12, 2011, 10:00:21 pm »
Hello  :happy2:

Whilst machine polishing my car over the weekend, the pad disintegrated and shot the polisher across my door and I ended up burning through the paint on the side trim on the door.  :fighting:

PTG showed this was thin paint already, but obviously I didn't intend to polish it without a pad!!

The burn is only about 3" long but straight through to the plastic. Do we think this can be repaired by the local paint repair van man?

Any other suggestions?

That is the trim I'm talking about by the way. For some odd reason i didn't take a pic of the damage

Cheers  :happy2:

I was gonna say that I couldn't see the damage!

If it's the bump strip, you could get that prised off, [maybe replaced with a new one], painted and stuck back on.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
