MAF Confusion!
« on: June 01, 2011, 08:06:11 pm »
Hi guys,

Further to my post at weekend changed my MAF tonight ready for car to run normally and.... it has made no difference at all so the original MAF must be fine!

So is there like a thermocouple/sensor which reads the info from the MAF? What else could it be that the car runs ok with a CEL with the MAF unplugged and with it in it starts but then dies

Any help much appreciated.

PS what is VW's returns policy ie should i take MAF back or leave it on shelf ie if it does go I will be glad already have one but is an expensive item to sit in the garage!

From past experience they will take it back as long as you haven't droven about with it for a while.  It should look as if its just come out of the box.

The fault code you listed in your other thread related to the fueling rather than the maf. Check out my post in your other thread.  :happy2:

As per Alex's diagnosis, turned out to be boost leak - an intake pipe was hanging off. Now rectified and datalogged properly with B8/T5/F9 on 2+ and Dave @ ADS in Preston says is running very, very well.

Anyone in Preston area - looks like a good place to go just on Marsh Lane technology centre
