VW plug connectors part numbers and schematics
« on: June 01, 2011, 03:58:06 pm »
  • Hi I'm trying to make up a loom to adapt a 2 speaker passive car so it can accept 3 way with cross over and to make it OEM style I am trying to make up a replacement loom, issue i'm having is tracking down the right plug connectors or finding suitable part numbers related to connectors to order what I need.

Does anyone know if there is a schematic of plug to part number resource that I can look through for the relevant parts?  Also if I have the associated male or female connector is it possible to distinguish the counter part if I have a reference or part number from them?

    From searching:

one of the plugs im after was used for the cd changer connector in the MK4/TT and for the cross over in the MK5 doors i'm after the male half x2

The others are a male plug with two locations prongs on one side thats used in the woofer speaker it has two side locking prongs and two pin plug

A male plug of medium size for the mid range speaker also with two  location prongs on one side and side sprung locking barbs with two wires/terminals.

and a female small plug of the same type used for the tweeter wiring.

all can be seen in this picture....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Each plug you want to connect to will have a P/N.  From that number you can normally retrieve the opposite and the appropriate repair wires.

Post up the details you have.

Thanks guys,  will have a look at the opposite ends and check the numbers on them and revert back to you just need to dig the old speakers out of the cupboard.  The audi pin connector is a good resource cheers Stu.  :drinking:

So I have tracked down the wiring schematic for the drivers door on the car and so the proper part numbers for the connectors, the next part of the puzzle is what size connectors work in the clips:

cross over, 12 pin, 6Q0 972 726

Tweeter, 4 pin, 3B0 972 732

mid range, 3 pin 1T0 972 703

Loud speaker, 4 pin 1J0 972 704

Also 191 972 714 which I believe is the opposite of the 1J0 972 704 part.

The wiring will be like this excuse the rough diagram so the sound intake to the cross over from the original wiring to the main speaker into the cross over and then out to the speakers again. So I think my best bet is to buy the individual connectors and a roll of wire and I will use my car wiring which appears to be colour coded to determine the terminal pin out on the cross over.

If you could let me know the appropriate repair wires that would be excellent  :drinking:
