Without question OEM from a dealer or TPS.  Simple reason is it carries a warranty.

If you can get a TPS account holder to get you one it'll be cheaper.

Gary @ IVC uses an OEM kit

In his opinion better than the VW one. From memory it was made by continental.

You could give him a call. Really helpful, good & cheap mechanic.
No Golf anymore.
Enjoyed the last five years of ownership of Mk5 & 6 GTIs.
Plus an excellent forum for knowledge and new ways to deplete the bank account.
Thank You Everyone.

Not sure I understand your reply.

OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer. So if you're saying OEM is best then you are agreeing with my saying buy from a VAG dealer but then go on to say '.. better than VW'??

Perhaps Gary buys from GSF or Euro Car Parts who may supply an OEM part but be careful because a lot of their stuff i sold as 'OEM Quality' which is not quiet the same.

TPS also do promotions whereby cambelt kits are up to 30% off - a very good saving

Do you by any chance have Cupra rear brake prices (Discs & pads) from tps?

VW dealer supplied - fitted parts come with a 2 year warranty. For that reason alone I get mine changed at the VW dealers (and I drive a Seat too). Just had mine done inc. water pump for £249 all in. BKD diesel engine. Seat also have the two year warranty, but to be honest I wouldn't trust Seat dealers to touch my car while I still have a hole in my arse.
Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Indeed, but parts fitted by dealers have two years labour warranty, whereas TPS supplied parts fitted elsewhere will no doubt be two years parts, one years labour. If the need arises for replacement in year 2, you'll end up paying the labour charge again. Unless your mechanic is feeling forgiving.

Ordered a kit for £130.00 from my regular seat dealer.  labour here in germany is 270€ with w/pump
I'll get 19% German VAT off the labour.

All in for about £330. Awesome Gti quoted £354 and I would've had to wait till I'm back in Uk.
