Golf R (Hairdresser version)
« on: June 02, 2011, 07:01:57 pm »

Volkswagen has launched this R version of its new Golf Cabriolet at VW Group’s Worthersee tuning festival in Austria.

The VW Golf R Cabriolet concept is powered by the same 266bhp/258lb ft turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as its three- and five-door hatchback siblings.

An exact 0-62mph time hasn’t been given, but VW says it can cover the sprint in less than six seconds and reach a top speed of 155mph making it the fastest open-top Golf in history.

The car gets a ‘sports chassis’ sits 25mm lower than the standard Cabriolet it is based on and it rides on 19-inch Talladega alloys. The Golf R Cabriolet uses 17-inch internally ventilated brake discs and special blue high-performance brake calipers.

Inside, it gets motorsport seats in dark blue carbon leather combined with Pure Grey Nappa leather. The seat backs are painted in piano black.

Other features include sand-blasted aluminium door sill plates and carbonfibre trim for the interior

I fear that R cabriolet could be the rarest VW ever! I like it, but I think I'll wince at the cost.

What do you think to it? I don't thinks its too bad.  Fancy fitting a Miltek to that  :happy2: at least you would be able to hear the full sound effect.

One thing at least my nails will dry quickly after being to the hairdressers   :signLOL:

The carbon dash trim looks good.

Roof up pics:-

And one from Skoda, (at least RR will appreciate the girls  :happy2:)

My ideal car to replace the MX-5 with.

I could have my Passat for Day-to-Day and the Golf R/GTI convertible for soft top fun.

Must be getting old, I quite like these.

Lots of the 4 seat convertibles around are big old things, Saab/Merc for example, so reckon a poky and smaller 4 seat which isn't weighed down by a metal folding hardtop arrangement may be quite fun.

Gotta think it's a corner of the market VW and Audi are exploring all alone. As lots of other convertibles are mainly metal roofed now.

Guess the EOS sales will be hit by this, but guess it depends on where you park overnight, as an EOS will avert a stanley knife a bit better.

Looks good but its just an A3 drop top and will hit EOS sales...

Would rather them get on and make the Bluesport and stick a nice juicy petrol lump in it
