My Goodyear Assysm's have lasted 6K and are pretty low now, not impressed really...

....My first pair of Goodyear Assym's lasted 13k miles (changed at 2mm). I rarely get wheelspin - A well trained right foot and a Quaife seems to help. Just bought my third pair and am very happy with the grip in both wet and dry - Best of all I've tried so far.

Yeah since my remap I get wheelspin all the time...boost comes in too aggressively for my liking really, but in the bone dry with some decent tyre temperature it is perfect. So i just hold out for those days now! I suppose DSG makes it less inclined to wheelspin off the mark too! Keith at JKM drove mine back in November and commented that he thought that the Goodyears weren't as good as some of the other tyres he's driven on a GTI. I feel that they are better than the Michelin Exaltoes that I had previously, but I would like to try the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's at some point!

More pressure at the rear?? I thought that more pressure was required at the front due to the heavier weight of the engine there???

Reduces oversteer somewhat if you reduce TP at the front of the car. Not that the GTI is a particularly oversteery car...

lol , after this thread I had to go check my fronts and got a fright!.....

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2  7.5mm from new (9/32") according to the website, now WELL past 1/2 worn on 7k miles (all on APR stg1 ED30)
mmm better start budgeting for tyres soon 

and just to show the differences my rear Mich Pilot Exaltos have done 19k miles and look like new

PS2's are VERY soft.  After looking into some new tyres recently, the sofest "Normal" performance road tyres were the PS2's and Goodyear assm's both showing 240 on the treadwear (directional F1's were 260) .  This will go some way to explaining the extra grip that they provide.  Myself, i would prefer a slightly harder compound and they last a little longer.  I plumped for Falken FK452's unfortunatly im not in a position to say "only the best" 1, because i cant afford them and 2, are they the best because the price says so?

Oh and from memory the Rosso's are about 260 so dont change to a Goodyear or Michelin if you want any more miles from them
