« on: June 04, 2011, 09:31:41 pm »

Anyone have this on he 2.0 Tfsi? Wondering if anyone has felt any benefit from
Fitting? Having cambelt done soon, would be ideal time to do another mod :p

Thanks

I don't have the Neuspeed one, but I just received the Agency Power pulley and I'm putting it on
next week. I'll get back here and post whether or not I can tell if there's a difference. I'm guessing it'll be tough feeling more power,
but maybe throttle response improvement. My concern has been whether or not the oem pulley is a balancer, and what effects the cnc
pulley would have on the internals over time...do you know?

Hi Mike,

As for now i only have their turbo outlet fitted and a standard discharge pipe which has a silicone hose to fit the turbo outlet, so no it hasn't been sorted yet  :sad1:

The power pulley will have no effect on how quick the crank spins or give you any better throttle response.  It just sits on the end of the crankshaft and spins round plus the OE pulley does not really weigh that much.  I found that out when I was fitting my cambelt a few months ago.  You would be better investing money into other parts of the car which will reap benefits.  If you want to increase throttle response you would be wiser to buy some aftermarket hoses such as SFS or BSH/Neuspeed throttle pipes etc.

So, you are saying that the combustion that drives the crank will not spin the crank any faster if the pulley is two lbs lighter?
If lighter rods and pistons were to be installed then the same would be true as well?
Granted a couple of lbs will be hard to notice, but still, there has to be some difference in the magnitude the engine must work with lighter internals including a pulley that must be spun by the crank. I will be putting in rods and pistons some day and, along with the pulley, there will be noticeable power output. I have to believe this as I am going to school taking engineering at this time.

I see your point, however the pulley spins round on its axis and does not require any more energy to spin it than it would one 2lbs lighter.  When you take into account the forces and energy these engines produce, then 2lbs spinning on the end is nothing and you wont feel or notice any difference.  However the difference in weight is more like 1lb between the two and is negligible.  To get the crank to spin faster then you have to lighten the crank as that is much larger than a pulley and has a much larger rotational mass.  The crank does not just spin like a straight bar would i.e a drive shaft.  It has journals which are offset to coincide with the combustion process and counter weights to balance, else it would just cause a lot of vibration!  You wont see any increase in power from the pulley and Im sure dyno a would show that.

Getting the AP pulley put on on Wednesday, and I will post any awareness of difference. I don't expect to notice much, except for maybe some quicker throttle response as some feel this and some do not. As for a dyno showing more power, imo it's not worth putting it on the dyno because I do not expect much more power, which will vary after a number of runs anyhow. I do not believe that a pulley should be one of anyone's 1st round of mods, but may be a decent mod for when you're running out of things to change out. Let you all know how it goes...

I think some of the dudes across the pond have tried this mod and IIRC weren't impressed. I've even read of resulting problems but can't remember the detail. Neuspeed products are often not what they're cracked up to be - I'm not very impressed with my Nospeed turbo discharge/charge pipes even with SAMCO hoses. Very expensive for very minor returns. IMO.

I think that there are so many mods out there that make just a slight bit of difference if any. Maybe after all of them put together collectively may give "some" power.
The turbo discharge pipe, intake, throttle inlet pipe, intercooler tubes, throttle body tube, and lightweight pulley are some of the parts that singly may give nothing noticeable. But, may all together remove restrictions, reduce weight, and, I'll say it, look better.
Being realistic when considering mods, we know there are only certain things which give noticeable gains; bigger turbo, remap, internals, and file-supporting or required mods(intake, fueling, tbe, and fmic).
Please don't fault me for the items listed being completely accurate or not. I'm only making the point that there are "power mods" and there are "other mods".
