tdi sport 4motion
« on: June 05, 2011, 11:03:03 am »
Hi all, ive just joined this forum as yesterday i signed and sealed a deal on a 2007 gt tdi 4motion sport, long title but thats whats on the V5 docs. Anyways... I wanted to know if anyone else had one of these and what they really think of them? It comes with a good touchscreen system with sat nav, ipod doc in armrest bit and came with a vw car mobile kit worth rougly £400 according to vw.

Picking the car up wed night so no photo's as yet but its in black, 17" alloys. Total standard.

Let me know cheers, Craig.

Mate.. The reason this thread has been opened is for reviews on the car itself not to show it off. I want to know the good and the bad and whats it got to offer?

I get on quite well with mine but its not a 4motion. They are pretty rare to be fair. Its a great all round car not as dynamically sorted as the GTI no thanks to the ship anchor upfront. Advantages are that you have all 4 wheels to deal with the torque but the 4motion adds weight. I would look to get it mapped as that improves response and drivability immensely but anything else is up to you. This place is a great for ideas for improving aspects of your car and emptying your wallet!  :sad1:

Craig I can't give you opinions on the 4 motion but the car in general is excellent, fuel economy is good but not great depending on how you drive it?  running cost are not astronomical and most of the stealers are not too bad.

The turbo's are commonly not that good but if you are going to keep it long term then uprating it would be a benefit. other than that its just a general mk5 golf common faults which you will find in a search?

but example:

Turbo
A/C compressor
rust on front wings, and where the rear bumper meets the rear arches.
EGR cooler leaking
loss of coolant can be from the above problem or a damage head gasket.

On the 4 motion you need to make sure the haldex has had the oil changed and that every thing is functioning properly, Scott can check for any faults on the 4 motion for you if he's avaliable.

If you want any inspiration or any thing my build thread along with many others is in the Members Ride section.

Cheers

Darren

Cheers Darren, I've to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. I've spoken to Scott and I'm going round by his house saturday morning to check on his vagcom and add some good "tweeks" lol. What is this Haldex thing? I might ask the dealer before I take it away.

Haldex is the 4motion system and the rear diff oil should be changed at regular intervals same has you would with the engine oil,
