Shadow Blue GTI - standard Monza 2 or Shadow?
« on: June 05, 2011, 08:52:51 pm »
Hi guys & gals,

I bought a set of Monza 2's off eBay a while back and they are covered in white worm & curb marks so definitely need a refurb.

Not sure which colour to do though? I've got some pics from the internet of a blue Mk6 with the shadows on and a mk5 with the standard monza's on. What do you think?

Otherwise, any suggestions for a powder coat colour to go with the shadow blue?

I much prefer the grey to the black on shadow blue myself. The shiny black with shadow blue just does not work to my eye on shadow blue in real life.

How about getting the scallops done as close to the cars body colour as possible? I was going to do mine Red , if I ever find a set of 18s to buy , that is!

If going for Powdercoating do the screw-in metal air valves need to be replaced with new ones?

I've seen a car like that (it was graphite blue) but what set it off was the bling bling shinyness of the car and the rims. I'd go for either as long as you keep them and the car shiny shiny. I'm leaning towards Monza II and this is from someone who has the black inserts!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

picking mine up in a couple of hours, its laser blue... kwik fit messed up the wheels and agreed to have refurbed originally they were dark graphite inner with light grey metalic faces... talking to the guys doing the job we have agreed gloss black inners with black chrome faces (the black chrome is more of a polished look).... I'll try and post a pic up later...

defo the mk6 style.

I have been deciding between the shadows and the ed30 wheels, but the shadows won.

Getting mine refurbed next month and I've been having the same black/graphite debate. I've decided to keep the graphite.

From reading some of the horror stories about Monza II's; deciding who you get to do the work is very important. I'm between A1 Wheels or Lepsons??? Seem to have read a greater number of good reports about A1 (Redrobin etc) but I live nearer Lepsons.

Got mine back from A1 in Wolverhampton today, they've done a mint job. I'm now a proud owner if a set of Monza Shadows

And oh boy do they look good against the Shadow Blue  :happy2:
