ds2500 pads and wear sensor

Hello folks, I just ordered some of these, and was wondering what you do with the wear sensor plug, as these pads dont come with one.
Do you just tape it up, or shove a wire in the termainals? Does the light come on the dash with these pads or do I have to do something with vcds?
Found them for £125.77 with delivery which doesnt seem to bad compared to other places.

Just tape it up. I don't remember (back in 2006) having to do anything else - Am pretty sure VCDS wasn't needed, unless it was done later for me.

It's easy to visually inspect pad wear on DS2500's anyway. Am just changing mine to APF-404's tomorrow.

VCDS - Instruments 17 and take out Brake Pad Wear.  :happy2:

Alternatively manufacture a shorting plug by cutting the one from the old pads.

Just use the plug of the old pads and solder a piece of wire to 'short cut' the circuit.

they didnt trigger any lights on my mk4 when I used them, but wasnt sure about the mk5.
I'll just use vcds if they do.

Be interested to hear your thoughts on the AP's Robin! How much did you pay? I had a quote for them for £100 for the CP5200's  :smiley:

....After removing the wheels today at my VW dealers we saw that there's still some wear to be had from my DS2500 pads and so swopping to APF-404's has been postponed. So no feedback report for a few thousand more miles.

Well, incase anyone else wondered about this, the light on the dash comes straight on, the plug needs cutting off the old pads, and the two wires need to be soldered together, problem solved, I  followed bedding in procedure, brakes are still crap :sad: :sad: I've got no luck with this car, get one thing sorted then it's something else :fighting:

I'm going to bleed the full system again tomorrow after work and see if it makes a difference, last time I had the ds2500, they seemed to work ok after they were bedded in.

I have the DS Performance for some weeks now. They are equipped with a wear
sensor plug like stock.
'Brake feel' is very similar to OEM, only slightly more 'bite' than the old VW pads
I had before.
Sometimes some squeal, but not as noisy as most Pagids or Carbone Lorraine.
Biggest '+': They're road legal. So an alternative for those who run street only.
