Hi guys and girls

I might have been stupid, I downloaded the fs2760 firmware upgrade for my 2009 RNS510, in the last 2 mins of upgrade the system basically switched itself off and took a couple of hours to come back to life.

It then said the SWL had failed and to install an SWL CD. at that point nothing worked.

I downloaded the rescue disc, have run that and the unit has booted up, however now the touch screen and MDI don't work, the nav thinks it is in Germany and the unit will not turn off.

If anyone has any suggestions on what I might to resolve the issues?

Thanks

Chris

From my own experience it will have lost it's coding if the recovery disc has been used, however I have never seen them lose the touch screen and not switch off.

It would be worth trying to re-load the firmware again (but from a new disc of course).

When you boot off the disc it loads a temp operating system so I expect the touch will work OK in this mode.

Hi,
I've had a failed update on my RNS too in the past,

if the touchscreen IS unresponsive, you can navigate the menu to update using the left/right  buttons to the left of the cd slot and the 'i' or star button to the right of the cd slot to 'select'

best bet is to run the swl recovery, and to use a 'stock' firmware such as 2680, (2760 was the same firmware which caused my RNS to fail)

i'm assuming he has the correct CAN gateway in his car, worst case scenario he may need to replace the power supply on the RNS, on mine it only cost me the cost of the PSU and the tools to replace it.

good luck to your fellow rocco owner!
