Yep if you wanted to go rubber pipe you'd need to swap fuel lines.

Took the pump to a garage/machine place this morning and sadly the sheered off bolt has wrecked the threads inside the pump  :sad1:

So have just ordered a new pump & bolts etc for the time being which should hopefully arrive on Tuesday, then hopefully have the car back running again.
Then sort it out properly at a later date when I get the chance, simply just need my car running normally again for wednesday until August time.

A big thanks to everyone that has commented/helped.

I will update you again once I hopefully get it sorted, cheers.

I guess the the reason it sheared and has damaged the threads is because you cross threaded it.

Did you upgrade(?) to the rubber type with new lines?

If you want me to try and tap out the old pump and rebuild it let me know?

Glad it is sorted.

Thats what I meant but didn't know it would be that much as its only one line isn't it?

I am probably wrong aren't I.

All off the top of my head!

When I checked a couple of years ago I was quoted around £120 exclusive of vat to switch from banjo bolt to the bamboo fitting. That included all the fittings...

I thought so, I think you could probably get a second hand intake off of the bay for cheap and just rob the lines.

No I have just ordered a new fuel pump and banjo bolt, which should arrive Tuesday & fingers crossed I fit it ok & should have no more issues.

I may look into changing to the bamboo fitting at a later stage when I have time etc
How easy is it to replace the line to the bamboo version or best to book it in with VW to do it?

Was browsing on E-Bay and seen this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MK5-VW-GOLF-2-0-GTI-HIGH-PRESSURE-FUEL-PUMP-SENSOR-/320685054108?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4aaa51989c

That doesn't look like its for the Mk5 Golf or am I seeing it wrong?

No, from Awesome...
I doubt that a vw dealer would willingly take on this work as it moves the car away fron it's original spec.

Ahrite, thanks.
My next step is fitting my new pump successfully when it hopefully arrives on tuesday, ready for going away on Wednesday.
Will look into maybe getting it changed to bamboo fitting at a later stage :) as its official:

Bamboo is better as like I said you can check the cam follower very easily.

I would believe that VW changed it for your reason and the cam follower check?

Got my new pump & bolts etc today.
Fitted them ok and car now seems to be running fine again, hopefully thats the last of this issue

Will be putting my AutoTech Internals HPFP + New Bolts up for sale soon when I get a chance, all the person needs to do is get the sheered off bolt out and they will have a bargain.

Thanks to everyone that helped with guidance, part numbers & calming me down lol
