Today I wet sanded the 4 worst scratches on the car. I polished out with my new hex logic orange pad and Megs ultimate compound and the results were impressive. Can't wait to go over the whole car with it and take out the swirls and minor scratches.
Just got the 8p Hexlogic pack from Chemical Guys myself and went to work on the hood/bonnet, with just the orange pad and Megs S&S 2.0, where a bird $#!@t had left a 2" area of pot marks and some other minor scratches there as well. It eliminated about 60% to 70% of the spot caused by the bird and all of the other imperfection and water spots. I expect most to be gone after another polishing with it. Looking into getting the Chemical Guys VSS compound( https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guys-COM_129_16-Scratch-Remover/dp/B001TJIDF0 ) to try on the whole car soon. But love those pads on the random orbit polisher.

Past the MOT with no advisories, can crack on with some cosmetic mods now new front splitter lowering springs etc

Removed front wheel arches, cleaned and coated them and then removed the rust causing sponge in the arches. Going to clean the inner arch and fit sound deadening before I put it all back together

Finally stopped procrastinating and fitted my VWR spring/damper kit, along with Passat alloy hubs, Passat ball joints, new bearings and new top mounts.

I've got S3 wishbones to go on as well, but I left the steel wishbones on for now as I didn't want to mess the alignment up, but it turns out it's all gone to c0ck anyway as it drives like absolute schitt  :grin:  It desperately needs an alignment, which I will get me dealer to do next week.  Initial impression is the primary ride is slightly softer than standard, and a only a little firmer over bumps.  It's the perfect kit to lower the car without ruining the ride quality  :happy2:

@Pudding Just by fitting different ball joints the alignment would mess up.  :wink:

Fit the control arms with half the weight and get it aligned. I'm sure you'll love the handling improvement.  :driver:

Good job I did as both rears were broken as well totally unbeknown to me!

Both rear shocks felt weak as well, when you compressed them, they wouldn't spring back. Hopefully it will feel a bit less bouncy at the back now.  :smiley:

Replaced both my rear springs last night.  Was a super easy job.  Only tricky bit was releasing the nut from the lower shock mount as it was pretty rusty.  The impact wrench made easy work of it though.
The rear of the car looks pretty high at the moment, I am hoping it will drop slightly over the next few days.

Thanks!  Alignment booked in for tomorrow.   It feels like it's toeing out a lot, so probably the only adjustment needed.

Well the new original ones do!  :smiley:

Ah OK, mine were buggered as well then!!  I fitted VWR dampers at the same time as the VWR springs  :smiley:

The OE dampers have much stiffer compression than the VWR ones, but similar rebound, so the primary ride quality is better with the VWR parts....and less floaty on fast B roads.

Been a busy few days. (haven't acutally done anything than swiping my card...  :fighting2: )

I finally found a GTI bumper complete with the ED30 lower splitter for a reasonable price to my TDI. Also got a few bits and pieces from Darkside Developments. I ordered the Darkside Audi S3 intercooler, Genuine 4bar sensor, AEM cone air filter kit with silicone piping along with the other silicone pipe for the airpipe.

Will try replace the flapmotor sitting opposite side from the AUX heater in LHD cars - Hope I can do it without taking the whole dash out.

Changed the n/s/r brake disc shield today with a new one & bolts from VW. So glad I did as several botch repairs were evident to save taking the hub off.

Changed the oil & filter for my own peace of mind. Last changed 6months/3k miles ago with a VW stamp (previous owner) and there's no way it was done then.

Also a cheeky wash & wax.
