Today (and yesterday) I mostly fitted the Mk7 style climatronic controls and Air Quality Sensor (and single motor recirculation flaps). Also passive TPMS and a USB charging port.

Spot the difference... same car 5 years apart. Love how you can update these things!

If you have dual motor recirculation flaps, updating to the later single motor flaps (to stop the windows misting after the Mk6/Mk7 panel upgrade) is quite a job, I wouldn't want to do it again.

That turned out really well! I've decided I'll give it a go myself, however using the silver coloured trims as these are what I already have installed in my car. I assume you used the Scirocco climatronic controls and not the Golf ones?

@Sebas_theFish Yes, I used the silver Scirocco trim for the main part and a standard panel as the donor for the bit that wraps around the top of the head unit.

I used a Passat control panel, specifically part number 3AA 907 044 BQ.

Mine has has a string of advisories (tyres/brakes/emissions) over the last 2 years but hoping to get a clean sheet next time. That will be nice for a 14yo car.

Spent a good chunk of the afternoon running outside to turn the alarm off on my MK5, as it kept going off randomly. Ended up taking the alarm fuse out and giving the connector going to the boot handle a good wiggle, as I think it's down to that failing. It's gone quiet now so hopefully it's fixed itself for now and it's not just a flat battery 

Have ordered a replacement boot handle anyway as I never liked the flat old style one on mine. It's a MK6 one and am hoping to colour code the background on it as I've liked the ones I've seen on here.

money light came on so thought I'd take it to VW dealer as ours does a video of the undercarriage and I wanted them to have a look.

Turbo boost pipe seal was the issue. Washer replaced.

My local dealer does the MOTs and brake fluid flushing etc, and I get the usual "Let me know if you want to sell it" from the master tech every year

I began looking into why the hatch-pop kit I installed more than ten years ago to be sure I installed it correctly. As it has never really opened the hatch 100% of the time. It does open if the summer heat is present...and I am parked in the sun...and a window is cracked open, having first used the key fob to open them. I installed a new set of spring bump stops and the two hatch supports less than two years ago. I also went through the install instructions today, provided by ECS Tuning as well as a newly found DIY vid I by USP Motorsport (both linked below). I noticed a difference between them and why my curiosity was recently peaked. ECS Install Instructions states with the stops loosened; you shut the hatch_open it_and tighten the bump stops at their newly adjusted position. Which is how I did mine. In the USP vid he states with the bump stops loosened; you shut the hatch_open it_pop the bumps outward an additional two clicks_and then tighten the bump stops. I can say after popping the bumps out two clicks; the hatch still doesn't open fully in the temps of the garage. And in looking at the stops through the gap with the hatch closed, I can see the bumps are fully compressed in the 'hatch closed position'. So I've re-adjusted them to only being popped out one click so there is a tiny bit of room for the spring to compress. I've always accepted the Hatch-pop mod only pops the hatch open and isn't meant to fully open the hatch as advertised...while being aware it does sometimes fully open when warm.

Nearly been there. They are steel (one use stretch bolts) in alloy and the bolt end thread protrudes though the top of the subframe. So it’s a great idea to clean that bit of the thread off with a wire brush and a bit off WD40 before even attempting them. If they pick up on the thread and start to go tighter don’t force them, back off 1/4 turn and then try 1/2 turn, repeat.

I took 45 mins to get 1 bolt out and another half hour for another. 1 wasn’t playing ball so I wound it back in and replaced just the bush in situ. All of this doesn’t help you but maybe will someone reviewing this thread in the future.

Knowing how tight that would have been to cause the bolt to snap, it’s not coming out easily. Maybe you could get a bolt welded to the protruding end above the subframe and wind it through the other way? Good luck and please let us know your solution.

Got my 17” winter set of monzas powder coated anthracite since I changed them over. Have to wait till next winter to see them on the car.
