Another tedious, yawn inducing job I've been putting off...... the crusty headlights.
It's quite the messy process!
I could have kept going with the polish to make it perfect, but quite honestly I got bored and stopped at this point, which is plenty good enough for me!
The passenger one for comparison, which I didn't do as I ran out of time and sanding discs
It doesn't look too bad in the pic but in real life it's pitted to hell with millions of stone chips, and has a slight brown/yellow haze. I wouldn't have bothered doing this as I hate bodywork, but the hazing is so bad it really dulls the light output.
I used the 3M kit from Amazon and my advice to anyone considering this is, buy 2 kits and double, or triple the estimated time to do it as it's a proper chore of a job, even with a drill. The reason for 2 kits is because either VW or the previous owner caked the lights in clear coat, which needed the entire kit to do one light
