Another year, another MOT. Also had a set of fresh Super Sports fitted. Gets to live another year, ULEZ permitting.

@skkane, would be interested to here if the finish on youe Ate's lasts. Replaced the warped brembos on mine for the normal Ate's but the finish isn't as good as the brembos and they are showing signs of rusting.

Hey, totally forgot about this. I sold them @ 16000KM's and around 7 months to get the MK7 GTI PP ones. They still looked pretty good to me, no rust but I drove the car a lot.

I changed my key fob case with one from amazon.

Works well and quite straightforward with the tricky bit being getting the glued in glass transponder out without breaking it. To do this I soaked it in nail varnish remover and then used heat from a hairdryer while I gently prised it out.

I wedged it back in the new case with tissue paper to make future removal a simple task.

Had a strange noise followed by constant knocking at the back end of last week and found one of my rear sway bar links had snapped. Had only been fitted for about 10 months so called Whiteline and they arranged a replacement which arrived today at no charge - great service from them! Will be getting the new one fitted up today. From what I can tell it broke because the actual ball joints have become virtually seized and putting all the pressure on the link itself.

I replaced the third brake light on my GTI as the original had failed on some of the LEDS and had an advisory on the MOT.

You have to destroy the original and grab it out the spoiler then refit.

No pics, but over the last couple of days ive been super busy:

Replaced the DV which looked like a burst balloon.
Did a small service, second service in my ownership and first ive done myself.
Replaced the broken bonnet latch and cabke that broke during the last jobs.

All in all im well chuffed, car drives better than it has in my ownership, i guess the DV has been on its way out for a while.

Been on the hunt for a decent 6R or Scirocco R TSI intercooler (1K0145803BP) for the GTI for the better and bigger IC core. 32mm to 38mm width and the core had 32 bars compared to the original 28 bars.

I finally found the later car that was being broken and bought the rad pack for a bargin £110 as did not want to pay the new price. Rinsed the IC out with some petrol a few times and then left to vent overnight, before fitting.

From start to finish it took me 3 hours to remove and fit with no issues thankfully.

Not driven the car properly yet, but there should be no more boost leaks from those hose clips and better IAT's to come.

Cut the metal clamps off the original hoses and used some new hose clamps to seal them off.

Nice work  :happy2:
Planning on doing the same with mine, just not sure which intercooler to go for and ive got to change the condenser too. Yours looks in pretty good condition.
I'm keen to hear if you felt any improvements so far

Thanks.

Yes a marked improvement. It feels stronger the car, even when hot....hard to explain.

Boost gauge at idle used to read between -0.6 to -0.7 vacuum. Now reads a solid -0.8 so those bayonet connectors were def loosing boost for me before.
