Cleaned the exhaust, finally getting all the black crap and major tarnishing off both pipes after an unsuccessful attempt on Sunday

The Silvo and pan scourer trick bore little joy, so i resorted to fine grade wire wool and autosol and got good results. Just the insides to do another day. The neighbours must think i'm crazy lying there in the road not cleaning the bodywork as might be expected but the exhaust!  :rolleye: Folks round here (West London) barely wash their cars - you should see the state of them

Did some vcds logs. Giac looked at them and said I need to recalibrate the wastegate to begin opening at 7.5psi. Right now the the actual boost is lagging behind the specified until around 5k rpm. Friday everything may be OK again after getting it taken care of...fingers crossed.

Gave it a good clean inside and out then set my DRLs to 60% with VCDS. (and it's just started raining on my lovely shiny bodywork!)
Regards,

John

Got a quote for replacement of small radiator fan as it's died and the larger one is running extra fast and as a result makes the car sound like a milk float when the A/C is turned on, :-)

Booked in for a few weeks time.

Well done to MDM (http://www.mdmtechnik.co.uk/) for spotting the issue as the local VW dealer claimed "they all sound like that". Erm, it didn't sound like that when I bought it......

Just less than £220, which includes the part, an hours labour (in Berkshire) and some dismantling in advance to work out which model it is. There seem to be two different possible parts, one from Siemens, one from someone else. No obvious markings on the visible side that we could see, even with a mirror and a torch.

Worth it to get the Silver Bullet back into stealth mode.

You could do it cheaper yourself for about a hundred quid less if you're a confident DIYer. I'm not, but there are guides on the net showing how to do it.
