Surprising just how good and complementary the texture of the carbon vinyl trim looks with the other interior finishes on the Mk5 - It doesn't look applied at all.  :happy2:

You mean it looks like I haven't wrapped it and it's genuine carbon fibre Robin?

I'm not into glossy carbon fibre personally think it looks a bit naff.

Where's that company you used based Robin? Maybe get someone to do those really tricky bits for me!!

....Not quite. Carbon vinyl can never look like real carbonfibre but I think that as a texture and finish inside a car it looks well integrated and doesn't look amateurly done, if that makes better sense.

I prefer any glossy carbon to be on the car's exterior, not interior, but even then not usually in big areas (I painted my real carbon bonnet). It depends on the carbon though - There are many types and weaves and some cost serious megabucks.

The company which did my vinyl has gone bust. If they gave everyone the discount they gave me it's not surprising!

Down at SRR this morning.

Made 289.6bhp which I'm quite happy with as I thought it would make 275.

Is that just with a map?

Stage 1 REVO.

Exactly the same as I got on JKM's dyno when I was stage 1... nice result...

Dropped the Golf off at the garage I bought it from for some warranty work including a new AirCon compresser. They agreed to loan me a car but  the only one they had was a 2007 Ford Mondoe tdi with 182k on the clock. A five year old ford with 181k on the clock drives surprisingly well!

Pics of the Lamin-X on the headlights and now on the fog lights too  :happy2:

Also, I finally did a mod I had planned years ago.

I used the 1" silver go-faster-stripe that I bought for the grill strip. I stuck the pieces onto the rear boot badge backing plate, and then I popped on the satin black boot badge.

:fighting2:

thank the lord you didnt do those horrid piss yellow fogs  :signLOL:

looks good.

How easy was it to remove the VW bit of the rear handle? I want to do the same but colour code it red with a black VW bit.

Did you buy the black VW bit or wrap your silver one?

It's really easy to remove the badge. I used a scraper like this, as it's got a good strong pointy end too....

Start off prising between the badge and the plastic back. Be carefully not to stick the scraper behind the skin of the badge. Basically it's in 3 parts. The large black plastic mechanism part of the badge. A black plastic skin on top of that last part, and then finally the silver chrome plastic badge.
Just make sure you prise off the chrome badge and not the middle skin.

If you get it started at the edge first, you can then get the scraper point under the V and the W part of the badge and carefully prise away.

When you've done it once it's real easy

As for the black badge, I sprayed it myself years ago, but with the black skin behind a black badge didn't look very good on a silver car IMO.

How did you find the sticky stuff that is so close to the colour of your car?

Fitted the new Autohaus number plate holders and private plates, metal pressed . Back was very easy....the front however was a major PITA. Removing the front number plate mount is defo a 'grill off job' to do.   :fighting: Gave all the plastics a good clean with Aerospace303. Only thing I gott do no is call the insurance company in the morning...doa :embarrassed:
