Had a go at tidying up the engine bay Think its looks ok despite my butter fingered wrapping skills! Props go to Hurdy for the inspiration!

Went to fit my apex coil overs and found i required shortened drop links, which i dont have so put it all back together. Am sure am never supposed to get these fitted every time it try something always stops me from getting them fitted.

Think i might just stop trying.

got my cam follower done at last which was quite good cuz all of the black coating had gone and wearing through the cam follower was quite visible.

also did a hand wash and wax  for the first time since getting the golf ( did it at my parents place since they got a drive way) gotta say there's something very satisfying doing it yourself

Yes, its def better.....you do really need the software APR update installed/flashed to sort out the known cold start up issues (which is only momentary) and the error code that will be present as the flap motor will either show an 'open circuit' fault (if you remove it totally) or a 'stop outside of valid range' if you leave it connected but without the connecting rod attached.
I took the plates out of the head on mine and had a clean up around the valves but didn't go too mad. Honestly I feel idle is better than its EVER been....how ironic!
