Thanks Ruggy, eBay again for the key cover, item no 141459921828 :happy2:
It's a Genuine VW part from the dealer. It does look great but does scratch/mark really easily as I've found out!!

Is this really genuine. I would be interested if it was but' "optical highlight" "residue" what's that all about.

Yes mate 100% genuine, from VW dealer "TL Darby Volkswagen". It also came with a genuine VW parts invoice. It really does transform the look of the key :happy2:

Trip up to the Norfolk coast to see Eddie-NL who fitted and coded highline clocks and a MFSW.  Peerless work as usual from Ed.

Well the ol' girl has just had a new cambelt, new water pump, major service (so some new minor parts there) and passed her MOT with flying colours. Best of all the stealers have vacced and dusted it (expressly told them not to wash it as i always do :happy2:) so the interior no longer resembles an explosion in a rice cake and raisin factory

I'm now 700 beans lighter give or take a 15 quid note but like L'oreal she's worth it  :drinking:

Took the GTI to see Hurdy and Steve at Statller, for a new dv, pcv and cam follower.

As suspected the dv was split! Car pulls much harder now.

Great team to deal with.

And Hurdy's R is now 'The Fastest Car I've Ever Been In'. Some serious work going on there!

Took the car to VW in Portsmouth to have the bubbling paint on the front arches looked at, expecting the worst but ill wait and see.

Then told the misses i got my car remapped and got a Milltek fitted...3 weeks after i actually had it done! (Told her i was waiting till pay day because she doesn't know about my secret car fund!)

She is NOT happy, but i am!

Went in for a service.. Was told about a problem with the oil filter housing..?
Some spring/valve not letting oil into filter properly? Anyhow £45 for the part.
Can't get part till Monday.
Also had noise diagnosed as cam chain though they said its intermittent !
Not best pleased today.. Gonna have it done though my diesel van is quieter!!

I never really got on with the GTI gear lever, never felt smooth enough in the hand for me.

So went from this

to this

It's from an A1 Quattro, which I then Pirelli'd. I think it's available on the new A3/S3.

Feels nicer to me, especially the stub under the ball being round.
