Re: parts and fitting

* Fit supplied 4WD system

* Adapt boot floor to allow fitment of 4WD (spare wheel well will be mostly removed and will not fit a spare wheel afterwards)

* Welding of propshaft brackets

* Fitting and wiring of 4WD fuel tank including fuel gauge sender wiring

* Fitting of 4WD ABS/ESP parts if required

* If possible adapt current exhaust to fit 4WD system – dependant on exhaust fitted and vehicle additional parts may be required which would not be included in the price.

To carry out the conversion we will need to be supplied with the following parts:

* Complete 4WD rear axle with subframe and differential/haldex unit

* 4WD Anti-Roll Bars

* 4WD fuel tank and retaining straps

* Additional N/S fuel gauge sender

* Propshaft – complete

* Transfer box

* 4WD gearbox or FWD manual gearbox may be able to be converted using 4WD bellhousing and 4WD front differential

* O/S/F driveshaft

* If car has MK60 ESP then will require 4WD ABS/ESP module and 4WD ESP sensor

* If the car has MK70 ESP fitted then probably won’t need any ABS/ESP hardware

* Dependant on exhaust downpipe fitted – 4WD downpipe may be required
Theres a lot of work involved here. maybe get an R32 DP milltek or similar exhaust set up to make ease fitment?. I'd get the necessary parts so not to waste time and if something isn't needed then sell it on later.
quattro gearbox would be ideal as it's probably a lot stronger than the fwd box and saves messing around too.

@ fireblade51 , that's a lot of work mate how much is that going to cost roughly, isn't it easier or cheaper to get an r32 and make that faster ?
I'd say it's better to mod the tfsi than the R32 as we get more power from the gti when modding. the R32 will probably need turbo charging to get good gains from it as a few tt forum members have gone this route and one actually paid 10k to buy the turbo charger kit.  :surprised:

Yeah far easier to get power from turbo vs n/a car but is the above work going to leave much change out of ten grand lol its ambitious for sure , my mate and his brother had an gti ed and s3 between them and both great cars but id probably just get the s3 from the start if wanting turbo and 4wd  :happy2:

I was lucky, bought a really well set up golf running 480 bhp and 460lb torque, was development car for APR and VWR so fortune was spent on it but with more power coming really need 4wd, i now have all the parts bar transfer box which is coming saturday i hope, its cost me just under  £1300 quid for all parts, was really lucky, the guy i bought most parts of was collecting parts for 4wd conversion until his engine went tits up so lost intrest, he also chucked in a complete gearbox to for pennies, happy days. for fitting of all this you will need to speak to Andy for price, but as a guide i'll be looking at just over £4000, yes its expensive but with the Bigger Turbo, i should be making near 600 bhp and all for less than £16000 inc car i've just bought, watch out supercars lol.

Bet your happy with the price now, even if had'nt bought parts cheap of that guy, i've been scouring the net and max price is about 2k for parts plus add a little extra for slight change to exhaust and a few other minor parts, total cost will be say £6000 and that should get you some nice extras to, thats including cost to fit and VAT ADDED, HAPPY DAYS

Fair play mate I'd be happy with 280bhp never mind 480 lol, quick question though mate are you not worried about stressing the engine / transmission components getting towards  600, i'd have thought 480 with 4wd would be plenty quick enough and not much would be able to touch it on the road

I'd say 3.5k for the whole job.

Personally I should have bought a quattro but got a gti out of desperation but too late.  :stupid: :doh:

engine was  fully forged including bottom end by austec racing using parts supplied by APR so should be ok, but your right, thinking about it i might just stick to what i've got, or go inbetween with what Andy said and go for the gtx3071r , can't make my mind up, should get some pennies back to by selling my parts which are coming of the car to forgot about that.

Not overly exciting I know....
My radio buttons were pretty grubby and driving me mad until such time as I can change the unit.

Bought a set of stickers off eBay not really expecting much but pleasantly surprised tbf....
Stickers in place

And missed spots filled in with magic marker
