Fitted a set of AP coilovers with new top mounts and bearings.

Ordered a new set of wheels. Just need to sort out some tyres now.

Nice job!  Do the A4 ones just tap on over the existing GTI ones?  Where did you get the A4 tips from?

Thanks and yes the A4 tips fits over the existing GTI tips with help from a rubber mallet. I got the A4 tips from a seller on eBay here.

Great tip (excuse the pun)! Mine have been neglected too. Was going to give them some loving with Autosol today and see how they come up. If that doesn't work, the A4 tips look like the way to go!

Out of curiosity can you pop up a slightly more zoomed out version of the A4 tips on the car? I'd like to see if they fill the cutout in the bumper a bit more than the standard ones. Cheers.

Removed both front wheels and cleaned them and removed all the old wheel weight sticky. Took ages. Gunked, IronXed, Tar Removered, Clayed, Polished and PoorBoys wheel waxed. Then pressure washing in the wheel arches, and polished up the brake calipers as they where bit dull and going pink. The back wheels can wait for another day.

Busy day today:
Oil change, new filter and magnetic ECS plug done. Surprisingly easy oil change bar the sump plug being done up ludicrously tight, had to get out the breaker bar to shift it. At last I can reset my service reminder that has been beeping at me since I got the car :D

We also went shopping for the wifes new car, didn't manage to convince her to get a new Golf, but keeping it in the VAG family we opted for a Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo edition estate.

Removed headlight so I could shake an LED out  Bloody thing had been annoying me for 2 months
  Projector style lights don't like leds with a width greater than 9mm.They are get caught in the hole when removing the socket ending up inside the lens

Retrofitted cruise control and MFSW buttons today. Not tested them as I had a bit of a scene clearing the steering wheel angle sensor fault but I got there in the end!

Ordered some Vogtland coilovers. Dampers are made by KW and Vogtland springs are used by Koni in a few applications. Cheaper than ST, which are essentially the same thing - like the old Weitec kits.

Worth a punt for the price!

Not today but over the last week -

New rear calipers, discs and pads. Passenger side was sticking, discovered whilst changing that previous owner had fitted 10mm thick discs instead of 12mm. Deep cleaned alloys whilst off with fallout to get them looking fresh again







Also fitted R32 style rear lower and carried out backbox delete. Really pleased with looks and sound!

FOLDING MIRRORS WITH TINTED INDICATORS AND PUDDLE LED LIGHTS

Nice. I like the tinted indicators on black cars. Puddle lights are a nice touch too. I didn't realise they were even a thing when I got mine, but soon discovered it had pretty much every convenience option, bar cruise control. Talk about getting lucky!

thabks AJP, these are winter pack essentials that most cars don't have which is why I got a set with the motors for dirt cheap when I found them of a forum member 

Wouldn't mind them folding with the remote now if that's an option and would be awesome too as the switch only folds when in heated mirror mode 

Yeah mine only fold with the door switch. There is a way of getting them to work off the fob, think you need a different controller or something. It's not something I've ever looked into as I rarely use the folding function. But puddle lights and auto dip are nice to have. Auto dip in particular has undoubtedly kept my wheels in good nick!
