GFB DV+ fitted over the weekend.

There was a revision C in it but no tears or anything so must have been changed at some point in the past. Power wise I can't say I'm feeling a difference but throttle response is MUCH sharper and for some reason which I can't quite get my head around the DSG gear changes are absolutely seamless now.

Must be something to do with maintaining boost/vac between gears and preventing the engine from lurching on the mounts.  :thinking:

Highly recommended if anyone is thinking of doing it.

30 mins in and out. Long allen bit and ratchet spanner made it fairly simple.

Similar effect on manual cars too.  Everything just feels like it's better....idle smoothness, responsiveness, the lot.

You're correct about everything just feeling "better". It's hard to quantify but it feels like the part that should've been on the car from day 1.

I don't have the same experience with mine. Never noticed any performance difference and never cleaned/lubed mine so far. Still flutters well while releasing boost as new. If it stick, it would just dump the boost.

I'm not hearing any fluttering, are you on a K04? Do you have an uprated intake? My car is bog standard so maybe that's why?

They do need maintenance!!

Not to the same extent as the OEM parts but like any mechanical part it will need inspection.

I've seen one user have to replace the spring so far.

Others just report it need cleaning and regreasing.

I would do it maybe annually for mine or if I notice drop in performance.

@Pudding I recall GFB stating how important a perfect seal was and to handle the piston with incredible care so as not to score it. Now a tiny score won't exactly release a bar of pressure but surely that's not right. Has anyone else seen scoring on theirs? A while back plenty of knock off ones were floating around too which is also a worry!

@fab5freddy what the fishy fcuk?!!!   Not seen that before!  I'll be checking mine tonight.   Luke, the orange O ring on the smaller inner piston is completely shredded on his.

I'm not that worried about the scoring tbh, it's more the possibility of it jamming shut or open when things get hot in there!

Yes, I have a K04 with a VWR intake at stage 2+. With the OEM air box it wasn't so noticeable.

I have a PCV delete plate connected to a catch can. Not sure if that prevents any relevant amount of oil debris in my car. Maybe it still hasn't had enough use to need maintenance. It was fitted in October of 2015. :smiley:

My GTI just had a good service including some bits that I wanted/needed doing. Work performed by local specialist with all parts supplied by me.

-Sump dropped and oil pickup cleaned (was pretty clean but peace of mind achieved).
-New oil (5W40) & oil filter
-Coolant flush and change
-Brake Fluid (inc correct bleeding procedure with ABS & clutch bleed)
-New air Filter
-New fuel Filter
-Replace lower front splitter
-Install powerflex lower engine mount insert (yellow)
-New alarm siren as had failed (common issue I believe)
-Pre MOT, brake and suspension inspection - all components look to be in tip top condition :smiley:
-Also logged boost pressure specified vs actual before service to asses performance - all checked out okay so believe DV and PCV OK (last changed 5K miles ago - stock car)

Brakes and clutch now even more positive (they weren't bad before just due for new fluid) and no increased noise and vibrations from the engine mount insert which was a minor concern before the install. Engine movement seems to have been damped a bit and gear changes more positive also though only done 10 miles with the insert installed so good early impressions only. Feels good to keep on top of things and keep the car fresh.

Everything looked good thankfully
Took it off for peace of mind really and at least I now know it's all clean and clear
