@Pudding Just by fitting different ball joints the alignment would mess up.  :wink:

Fit the control arms with half the weight and get it aligned. I'm sure you'll love the handling improvement.  :driver:

Thanks!  Alignment booked in for tomorrow.   It feels like it's toeing out a lot, so probably the only adjustment needed.

Alignment done.  It was so far out, the VAG alignment machine couldn't even read it  :grin: 

Now that it drives properly, all I can say about the VWR kit for now is, wow!  I'll try and do a full review over the weekend but I am seriously impressed.

And here's the money shot.   Way too low for my tastes, but the improvements the kit brings far outweigh that small negative  :happy2:

Well, genuine VW bushes will be better than patent parts (ie the kind you'd get from Euro Car Parts). I asked the same question recently and the consensus was that cheaper 'equivalents' are a false economy.

Poly - that's a different question. If you replaced the majority with poly you'd get a very solid, direct feel on one hand, but on the other hand your ride quality would really suffer.

It's probably a case of picking and choosing which bushes you keep OEM and which you replace with poly, so you don't cross the line into boneshaker territory.

Yes, for now it's all OEM. I'd imagine I will get to a point soon where I need to look at things in terms of suspension bushes, and maybe engine mounts too.

There are particular bushes that'll give you a lot back for uprating them to poly, one in mind is the front wishbone rear bush, as in the anti lift kits.

I personally think the majority of OEM bushes do their job well on the mk5. It's just the odd one that might be worth uprating.

Seem's like it makes sense to stick with OEM for now then instead of compromising the ride quality or handling. Thanks

The toe angle changes too much under hard acceleration and braking with the factory console bushes.   They need to be uprated to S3 ones if you like OE, or WALK or what ever if you like aftermarket.

Put on new TD Pro Races with Nankang NS2-R rubber....the track here we come!...after I've serviced the brakes!

That's how an Ed. 30 should have been set from factory. It can be so much better with some suspension and brake tweaking. Glad you love the new setup! :drinking:
