Finally got the TD 1.3 wheels fitted today. Went with Goodyear Asy3's in the end. Fantastic grip.
Waited months for these to be made to the correct centre bores and gloss black finish.
Nice people at Rimstock if you speak to the right person.

Bilstein B16 being fitted Friday so going to take another 15mm out the ride height.

Really pleased with these and cant wait to get the Brembo BBK on.


What's the difference between 1.2 and 1.3, apart from the absence of the tacky writing around the edge?

Rimstock are up there in the top 5 most useless UK companies I've ever dealt with.  Compomotive were bloody awful as well.  They take ages to do anything and when they do finally bother themselves to do it, the quality was terrible and they had to go back.....more than once.

Anyway, yours look good and worth the wait!

The writing is the only difference. I bought mine from Demon Tweeks when they had the Black Friday sale. You can get black ones from ebay cheap as well.

Installed my NQSBBK along with new rotors and pads all round.
Went with plain Brembo rotors which I slotted myself. Got the calipers from Steve Strange Wreckers in U.K. which seemed to be the cheapest place. I chose these ones as a previous owner had already painted them red, albeit a poor job. They look ok on the outside that you can see once on the car and my car is hardly pristine so I just left them as they were.
Mounted them with the Vagbremtechnic adaptors and lines.
For pads I got Ferodo DS2500 as many people on here rate them highly plus they are available as a modified Boxster S pad that sweeps the whole 312mm rotor.
Although the calipers looked rather shabby, after complete disassembly I found that all seals and dust boots were good. I glad we don't salt the roads here in New Zealand as these were covered in it.





The pad retaining pins wouldn't even budge initially so after soaking with penetrating spray I got them out and used a media blaster to clean them and the pad springs.



Used the mill to take a mm off each of the posts.

Yes, it's actually a pad originally for the Boxster S that Addition Motorsport have machined to fit the standard Boxster caliper so that it sweeps over the whole rotor. The standard Boxster ones leave a small unswept area at the bottom which goes a bit rusty.

Those gears are actually for a Nissan R35.

@fab5freddy your photo isn't showing up for some reason, what was in the GFB area?

@Pudding I recall GFB stating how important a perfect seal was and to handle the piston with incredible care so as not to score it. Now a tiny score won't exactly release a bar of pressure but surely that's not right. Has anyone else seen scoring on theirs? A while back plenty of knock off ones were floating around too which is also a worry!

@fab5freddy what the fishy fcuk?!!!   Not seen that before!  I'll be checking mine tonight.   Luke, the orange O ring on the smaller inner piston is completely shredded on his.

I'm not that worried about the scoring tbh, it's more the possibility of it jamming shut or open when things get hot in there!

That may have happened. They might also just want to keep you as a satisfied customer. :smiley:

SuperPro is the European GFB official distributor. I ordered my GFB DV+ directly from GFB Europe website and I received the package from SuperPro Europe. :smiley:

OK, thanks for the info.  I see a lot of aftermarket brake concoctions that leave large areas of the disc unswept, so it's good to see a solution for that exists!

Blimey, they seem a little small for the amount of torque those engines can develop! Or it could just be the pic!

That is great customer service.  At best I was expecting you to just get a new O ring, but sending a whole plunger is a nice touch!   That problem definitely isn't common, but there's a first time for everything I suppose.

It wouldn't surprise me if Whiteline is part of the Superpro conglomerate as well!

Must be the pic then. Those are 5th drive. Same overall size as genuine Nissan but with bigger teeth among other modifications. They were used a few weeks ago to set a new world record for the standing quarter and half mile for the R35. That car probably has over 2000hp and goodness knows how much torque.

So glad to have mine back. Was in body shop for 2 weeks then away being wrapped for over a week..



Roof aerial and headlight washer inserts removed and smoothed over along with ED30 splitter being fitted  :happy2:

Got the ed30 GTI bumper and the B6 allou wishbones today. Will be getting the Darkside Developments silicone reduction pieces along with some bushes so that the intercooler can be installed.

Will be getting the cambelt kit and v-belt replaced tomorrow. Also bought a sodablast gun kit that will arrive tomorrow so that I can get the wishbones cleaned up before they will be fitted.

Better clear out the bumper and wishbones the wife sees them so close to the sofa  :innocent:

Went to sort my leaking rear washer today and discovered some previous owner hackings.

The dimwit cut a section of metal away and also cut a support arm off the wiper motor assembly  :congrats:

This precisely why people steer clear of modified cars.  I now need to buy a new motor and weld a studded piece of metal back on to support the motor.

Has anyone got a picture of what that area is supposed to look like as standard please?





Sorted this piece of mindless vandalism. 

Had to buy another motor @ £140 and welded an M6 bolt to a piece of 0.6mm plate.  I was going to weld it on, but decided to rivet it instead in case the next owner wants to fit a camera, coz I'm nice like that.



What's the big deal I hear you say? Well, I observed the motor's behavior with the tailgate panel removed and it moves around a lot when only held down with 2 bolts.  So much so, it wore out this rubber grommet, allowing water through and into the car, so I had to replace that as well.   It's all tight and secure now, as VW intended.



I'm all for OEM+ upgrades, but not when it involves chopping the car up.  My OCD can't handle it!!
