Yesterday had: Cambelt + Tensioners, Water pump, Main and Inline Thermostats, Fan belt, Oil Service with Miller Nanodrive NT+, NGK Iridium plugs and R8 coils (sourced from AKS, only replaced as I was unsure as to how old the exiting ones were). Also whilst it was being done the battery decided to pine for the fjords so that was replaced as well.

So another big thanks to both Danny and Simon at AD Autotechnik - top job and top guys, they even sorted a few little things out for me for free at their own expense - So very highly recommend for anyone in the area.

Plus they just had this come into the garage, doing some hefty rear suspension replacement/fabrication.

Thats right a Mk1 Escort estate with a Turbocharged S2000 engine... running about 425 bhp - by all accounts its mental and sounds like Beelzebub has visited earth.

That is a very decent VTEC turbo install!  Imagine being blown away by that on the roads  :ashamed:

I don't think I would be running a turbo with no filter on the roads though!

Ordered a new turbo and its extra's from TPS. Tempted to go down the K04 route but sadly, the price of a K04 is the same as a band for my wedding  Don't think the fiancee will be too pleased!

I would agree there. But with the work and money spent of the golf, the misses is cheaper!

Whats the true tell sign of a knackered MAF? Just been playing with the car.
- Unplugged the MAF and the car idle, dipped and then ran normal.
- Plugged it back in and the noise levels picked up in the exhaust slightly.
- Always from start, the car seems sluggish to drive for the first 30 secs of starting up. Also the exhaust note is louder like the turbo has stalled, not acting like a silencer. Then after the 30 secs or so its quiet again for the rest of the commute. I was guessing it was the 'choke' effect.

I think that's just due to the engine's cold start, where the engine runs richer to increase its temperature faster.

I wouldn't worry much about analyzing it until it reaches operating temps. A failing MAF usually induces bucking at low rpm throttle when in gear, rough idle, and/or a low "mass air/HP" readings in your data.
