And I've received a big box with AST 5300 inside.  :signLOL:

Yeah, can’t wait to get everything on the car, but I have some issues with the DSG box that I’ve bought. Seems that the mechatronnic is dead and my resources are at absolute zero now. I’ll know for sure in the next days. :/

Just looked at your car's spec, impressive  :happy2:

I've been considering a DSG conversion as well.  A project for the summer

Looking forward to your thoughts on the AST 5300. I like that you can adjust the high and low speed compression independently of rebound.  Every other maker ties them together in one adjustment.......and even then they only let you adjust the low speed compression!  Adjustable high speed is really nice for tuning out the harshness of sharp bumps & holes!  I think you will really like them.  Do you know the spring rates?

Interesting they have converted the rear setup to a coilover strut.   I never really liked the adjustable perches you have to use on regular setups.

 :happy2: Thanks man!

I believe that from now on dual clutch is the way to go. :happy2: DSG has proved reliable over the years, cand wait to get the conversion done. I've tried 2 single-mass clutches, both of them seems to have trouble with fast shifting at high rpm. it felt like forcing the car into gear, and after 2 laps the clutch was so hot that it would not go into gear over 6500 rpm.
My problem now is that Mihnea R Cotet from MRC tried to connect to the gearbox and it didn't respond. He told me that is not 100% dead we will need to try again with another DSG connector, but I'm already looking for alternatives if the mechatronic is dead.  :phew:

About AST 5300 I've read only good things, I really hope it will be an upgrade from PSS10. The front spring is 100Nm and the rear 120Nm. I really liked the high speed rebound adjust ability, I think it will make the difference over the kerbs. Also one of the deciding points was the rear coilover setup, it is always good to have the springs as close to the exterior as possible.
Can't wait to test it on the track. ;)

I agree!  I don't drive mine on the track but even on the road the manual box is annoying.  The rest of the car is great so probably worth converting it to DSG rather than selling it and buying another one.  That way I get a really low mileage DSG box!  Does the DQ500 work in the MK5 platform do you know?
Good luck with yours anyway, hope you get it sorted  :happy2:

You will love the ASTs and those spring rates are good for track work  :happy2:  120nm at the back in a coilover configuration is super stiff.  You will get great turn-in with that

Fitted a central armrest - been after one for a while as missed having one. Much more comfy and was fairly easy to fit. Just need to fit leather padding and rear cup holder compartment.

I hope that it will not be tail happy

DQ500 works for sure, you’ll need the transfer box too. I was about to get one for me, then i tought that with the transfer box it’s an extra 15kgs and Quaife/Wavetrac or Peloquin don’t do LSDs for it. That was the no go moment.

I’ve heard that DQ500 has better engine break, but I'm not sure, but a good DQ250 with a good tune will hold 500nm and with a clutch upgrade over 750. So I don't know if it's worth the extra funds unless you're not after a DSG and 4x4 conversion.

I’m happy today, my DSG is ok. I believe that I’ll go to MRC for the new software.

Ordered a new HPFP and internal upgrade kit...time to rejuvenate because fuel pressure target has dropped to just 110 bar even though actual will exceed the target every time I pull data...plus new brake pads. New Golf R injectors to come shortly thereafter.

Pretty hairy day coming back from Birmingham to Cambridge yesterday. Left at 5.30am to try and get ahead of the weather, which worked until we were stuck behind lorries 20 miles into the journey, unable to climb a hill on the A14. Decided to turn off and go through towns rather than sit stuck on the dual carriageway miles away from anywhere with the snow building. Ended up calling into Halfords somewhere for snow socks which then saw us climbing slopes 4x4s could not. Some hairy moments, and some fun moments too. Glad I had 2 mates with me for navigation and decision making. We and the car made it back in one piece nearly 7 hours later, what an adventure!

Good work!  Typical bad timing........I threw out my set of winter wheels/tyres last week

Having said that, the 'up to' 25mph EDL traction control isn't bad on the MK5.  My old Corrado used to just sit there spinning and not going anywhere with the slightest dab of throttle.  I wonder if the MK6 ABS system can be retrofitted as that allows EDL at higher road speeds.   I wonder if takes the road speed from the rear or front wheel sensors?   In the good old days, road speed was taken from the gearbox but obviously you could be spinning the wheels at 400mph but the vehicle speed = nil.  So they moved vehicle speed sensing to the ABS sensors on the MK5.

What’s this EDL, Pudding? Some electronic replacement for an LSD? I did find the car was helping a lot - traction control lights flashing, helping keep the car on the limit of the grip when pulling off. Does the EDL apply breaks as part of this? I seem to remember reading about something like that in the manual when I first got the car.
