seats out, normal vac and then wet vac seats and carpet multiple times until the wet vac water doesn't look like Newcastle brown. let it dry then spray it all, including head lining with autoglym anti-stink spray. That's what I did to get rid of dog hairs/stench.

How big a job is it removing the seats ?
What with all the electronics etc and warning lights 🤔
Used to be a 5 min job in my old MK2

Replaced both xenon bulbs after one of them starting projecting a fabulous pink light!
Not a job I wish to repeat any time soon I might add

Hey Pudding awesome job did you just spray the honey comb or did you spray the solided part my the number plate holder? Great job looks awesome. 👍
Perfect day for a spot of painting in the garden. No one likes faded grey plastics.

I did initially try the £30 ebay chinese grille which is shinyish plastic but I wasn't happy with the quality, so decided to paint the originals instead.

Paints used - Plasti-kote 'Satin Super' for the grilles from B&Q (multi-surface compatible so doesn't need plastic primer), Halfords Tornado red for the pin stripe with a top coat of U-Pol Clear 1 laquer.

Look so much better!

Just the honeycomb mate  :happy2:

@Pudding any pics of the grill back on the car? Need to do mine soon.

Certainly not a 5 minute job in the mk5, though not too bad. 4 bolts holding each seat. They are triple square heads, but can't remember the size. Possibly M10. You need to disconnect the battery before unplugging the seat wiring harness, otherwise you'll get the airbag warning light come on, on the instrument cluster.
After that, just remove seat. I find it's easiest to have the seat back wound all the way forward and have the head rest removed. The seats are surprisingly heavy.

Fitted an RCD 330 plus.

Cool bit of kit! Well impressed. Hoping I don’t see any battery drain on my 08 plate.

Put in a tin of BG44k and gave it an Italian tune up into deepest Oxfordshire to go see my son’s cricket match. Good stuff! The car pulls sooner / harder / smoother so I guess it has helped clear a ‘lazy’ injector. Starts from cold more enthusiastically also.

No import duty. Turned up via Royal Mail Tracked delivery which suggests it’s been handled in the U.K. prior to coming to me.

Brand new, well packed, works perfectly. And no battery drain yet! But mine is 2008.

"Borrowed" a 3lb hammer to conquer the rear brake spline bolts.  M14 spline socket (welzh werkzeug) took a good beating and survived. Ratchet handle will have to be replaced or at least have  a new ratchet installed.
4 new bolts from TPS on Monday
Had the wheels balanced this morning as I had a wobble on Friday at 70mph
Need to wait till the shopping mob have gone home for the day so I can tear up the bypass. Fingers crossed no wobble :driver:

Quick strip, clean, copperslip and reassemble of nearside front and rear brakes to hopefully cure a low speed squeal when coming to a halt.  Going to take it for a spirited test drive in a bit! :driver:
OEM+ 2005 GTI DSG (high factory standard spec and upgraded with S3 alloy hubs, S3 alloy wishbones, Bilstein B8s and VWR springs by my own hands) owned since 2008 and still loving it!

Pipe with MAP in. See circled area which looks as if the two parts of the pipe are coming apart... is this normal?

That isn't coming apart, it's just how they look.  All that's happened is you got some airborne oil misting and grit stuck in the gap, which makes it look like it's leaking or coming apart  :happy2:

When you say airborne oil misting... where could that be coming from... PCV valve?

Nothing in the history to say it’s been changed but it does run lumpy with the dipstick removed. Not sure whether it needs to be totally knackered to have that effect though, can you have one that’s on the way out and leaky but still passing the idle test?
