What did you and your MKV do today?

With the recent cooler weather I noticed my car running cool.

In traffic moving slow or left to idle after reaching 90 on a drive it was loosing temp and dropping to 70. This happened about 5 years ago to me when the inline stat was stuck open.

Decided to buy one and have a look, and bingo it was stuck partially open again.

Changed it out and test drove the car.....much better warm up times and it sticks there now regardless

Replaced both front wheel bearings.








Removed, cleaned and replaced VVT Solenoid and did an oil and filter change, adding Forte seal conditioner

Needed replacing and going to stage 2+ soon.

Full service completed on the driveway this morning. Simple enough but forgot to drain the oil filter so made a bit of a mess!

The cabin filter was allegedly changed last June (20k miles ago) but it was absolutely disgusting!

There are a few how to vids on youtube that I watched before changing the cam follower the first time. I'd say it's a DIY job haynes would say was a two spanner in difficulty.

Gave the old girl a clean today, exterior only as can't be bothered with the inside.  Still comes up very well, need to get a couple stone chips sorted.

very clean car, really like the subtle grey on the wheels with that blue colour, there is not many in that colour don't think I've ever seen one for real

Very easy, takes an hour max going nice and slow with a brew in between, I used this video (

), if you are just changing the cam follower and not the High Pressure fuel pump, you can keep the rubber hose attached like he does when removing the cam follower

Got a sidewall puncture so replaced the front pair with Pilot Sport 5's, rear to follow soon (was running Pirelli Cinturato P7's all round previous to this), mine definitely need a clean!

Thanks bud, she's not too bad considering the miles and age. The colour is Laser Blue and I have never seen another one in the flesh, there is a TDI near where I live that is in the same colour. I sometimes see Shadow Blues though.
