Second project within a week was fitting a set of Bilstein B8 shocks. I was already running H&R springs so they should work well together from what I’ve read. Opted for the MK5 shocks as it’s not a daily driver. I’ve been for a short drive round the block and first impressions are very good. The car is sitting approx 10mm higher than before but it’s not had much chance to settle in so will check it again once it’s been on a longer drive.

Just a bit of an update after having a chance to go for a longer drive…the ride seems so so much better! Ride height has settled now and is around 5mm higher than I was on the standard (tired) shocks.

If anyone is considering the same, I found the best prices to source the shocks was from DemonTweeks at £575 for all 4.

Central locking failed on the passenger rear door so bought a new actuator for £20 and replaced it today. Pretty easy DIY.

Replaced the damaged tail light and the chavy driver side mirror which I've been wanting to do for a long time, looks much better. Managed to pick up two tail lights up around a year ago for dirt cheap, genuine too.

Next on the list: replace interior buttons (got the window switches), just waiting for the plastic removal kit to make things easier. Then I need to replace the smashed fog light!

Fitted a TTE420 as my K04 that I reconditioned 6 months ago crapped out. It has the APR spring on it which requires 0.75bar crack pressure so I'm running full wastegate closed till I go update the tune tomorrow. Nearly crapped my pants when I saw the boost needle jump off the scale, I saw it around where 2.5 bar would've been, tops out at 2, LMAO.

Also got a MIB2 unit installed, which was a total bitch to code properly, had to get a new can gateway also for vcds be able to access it. Car play and all, too bad my Huawei doesn't support Android auto  The bluetooth is way nicer then the chinese dongle crap I had in my RNS510.

Replaced the very sorry looking window button and I managed to resurrect the door handle while I was at it too. Strange enough, there seemed to be 3 different finishes on top, upon scrubbing them hard on the worn areas, I realised that it would go back down to brand new? One layer of "top coat", another layer of this white-ish colour, then back down to the beige plastic. Really strange, but it took about an hour of fine grade steel wool & fine grit sandpaper to get the handle sweet. Thought it may be useful for anyone else with worn beige/cream plastic in their MK5s since these are much rarer than your standard black. You can literally take it back to the original and trust me when I say this it looks brand new. I called TPS prior and they wanted an arm and a leg for some of these interior bits.

Next time I'm gonna try paint stripper because it was a lot of work to get it down to this level and next time I'm going to remove the plastic parts entirely to make my job easier. Shame I don't have a before picture because the difference is night and day... it's bothered me since I bought the car. Going to tackle the driver's side panel next.

Thanks! :D

Got the correct crack pressure for the apr spring set, it pulled 365hp on the same 2+ settings, 1.6bar. Was pulling 320hp on old k04 and same tune. Sweet

Preventative maintenance applied to the coolant expansion tank. The original is 19 year old plastic so only time before these things fail. Changed it out for a FEBI one and amazed at the colour difference

Also changed the inline stat due to the car running cool......third one in seven years.

They only seem to last two years for me with my short journeys, but it gets back up to temp again and stays there......until we meet again

Not today but during the last month. Swapped the front and rear speakers as they were all done for, due to an improperly coded rns510. Also got some sound insulation done on the front doors as everything was one big rattle. Audio system 3way plug n play for the front and a hertz for the rear. It sounds really nice and no real need for a sub IMO.

Installed a oil sensor adapter (mounts on the turbo oil feed line) and a stack oil pressure gauge. Swapped the S3 IC for a Alpha competition one (https://www.all-stars-motorsport.com/en/engine/13134-golf-5-gti-golf-6-r-golf-6-gti-s3-8p-leon-2-cupra-alpha-competition-intercooler-kit-ac-200-ic-2000000028132.html) which is a bit larger but with OE fitment and got those IC to throttle body (https://www.all-stars-motorsport.com/en/engine/11423-alpha-competition-throttle-pipe-for-audi-s3-8p-leon-2-cupra-golf-5-gti-golf-6-r-20-tfsi-ea113-ac-200-tp-2000000008431.html) and turbo to IC (https://www.all-stars-motorsport.com/en/engine/11886-alpha-competition-turbo-outlet-discharge-pipe-for-audi-s3-8p-leon-2-cupra-golf-6-r-tts-20-tfsi-k04-ac-200k04-ot-2000000020914.html) aluminium pipes they offer to replace the stock plastic ones. Forgot to take pics tho =)

Also got some brand new AKS high flow injectors from a guy on FB marketplace for a sweet price along with a 165bar PRV which I will be installing on Monday + stage 3 retune to work the tte420 a bit more. Curious what numbers they'll be able to pull with these injectors and setup, will report back.

Installed the AKS injectors, didn't need the 165 bar PRV in the end, kept the old rs4 one. 393hp / 562nn.. Hope it holds up😂
