What did you and your MKV do today?

As part of my final 100k service on the GTI having changed the cam chain, adjuster and tensioner last week...... I changed the primary and secondary Lambda sensors as they tend to slow with age if not come close to end of life.

Got BOSCH items from Opie Oils as they are the same as genuine ones (also made by BOSCH) but a lot cheaper at £110 for both.

She should be good now for another 100k......touch wood

On a positive note, I have noticed that my exhaust tips have become a lot less black/sooty (90% less) since the lambda replacements, so the car must be running a lot more efficiently now

Have you noticed better fuel consumption or is it too soon to tell. I was surprised how quick mine get sooty and I'd like to see an increase MPG.

Yes the exhaust tips are def a lot cleaner after a week, as mine too used to get very sooted up.

Fuel economy has def increased, but unsure how much exactly in the last coupe of weeks.

What I have noticed is that I usually have about a 1/4 of a tank of fuel at the end of a week consistently (stick £30 in and it bumps it to about 3/4 full, but last weekend noticed I had a lot more left doing the same journeys at just under half a tank left, so just stuck less in.

I will monitor it closer, but wish I did it sooner now
