Dropped car off at body shop at the start of Feb to replace rusty side sills / bonnet / fenders and fix misc other rust spots they found. Full respray coming. Should be all done next week. Getting wheels refurbed after so she'll be looking fresh.

Would you be willing to share cost of this work? I’ve thought about this but my car isn’t in a bad enough condition yet to warrant it but I also have no intention of getting rid either.

Parts were ~290 euro's (new bonnet, side sills and one front fender). Other welding etc labour + full respray cost around 1800 euros... so around 1750 gbp all in all. This is eastern europe btw, UK price I don't even wanna think of :D

Had an unrepairable puncture , which resulted in two new Goodyear Asy6’s @ £97  each fitted, so not too expensive , and now all 4 corners match

Looks amazing.
It was definitely worth doing. Hopefully you'll get many more years out of her.

From those pictures your car looks like it's in mint condition I don't think you're ready for any bodywork yet, even the underneath looks pristine.

Thanks - I’m lucky I have a company electric car as a daily so this gets garaged and doesn’t come out when it’s bad weather. I’m only the second owner and the first had it for 10 years. Last year I replaced all the rear suspension arms and year before the fronts. I should have dropped the rear subframe and had it wire brushed and painted as that’s now annoying with everything else new. I might just do it in situ anyway. Only thing left is to do front end paintwork as there are stone chips. Sills have some slight blistering and I’ve already got some R32 side skirts so that can all be done together too.

That's good that you can wait for nice weather and go out and enjoy it. Plus hopefully you'll get many more years. It's nice you've had it so long, you don't have to think about what work may need doing and wether it had a hard life.

Small improvement - changed out my boot struts as the old ones were looking a little rusty. I didn’t think the old ones were bad but with the change it’s operating much more smoothly and lifting up much easier now.

Cost about £30 delivered for Stabilus (part number 5336XP for those interested) from Autodoc.

Weather was nice so I went for a drive. Now that it's not cold anymore, time to take the car apart, soundproof the hell out of it and change the headliner material!
