Steve, did your man not use a paint gauge before he started sanding?
+1. Vital IMO. If you look at the likes of KDS, they use a laser pointer to help accurately measure the same spot after sanding.
Does look good though. I thought the bumper being a different colour was because it was plastic and not metal?
jas, Its just the photo lol, the bumper was not sanded, only to the right of the vw boot badge , pics were taken at dusk, so light was darker than usual mate
... When she's had some polish and wax re-applied and it stops snowing,I will take another snap
I did read about people saying about different paint thickness's but the boot on my car is wafer thin, if all mk5's are like this, then you can't do any stratch repairs, because there is zero paint depth!..Bonnet and wings were no issue thankfully, but David had huge amounts of paint fillings to wet flat back. It was worth a go, if it didn't work then my plan of a full respray would of gone ahead, but adding fresh paint will not give as good as end result.Softer paint quite often can be worse as you know..
Problem is now, the bonnet and wings have no Orange peel effect, and the rest of the car does
