Beddie, do you have the part number from TPS?

7M3499349A  - Plate x 2 @ £1.72 each

N90823501 - Bolt x 2 @ £2.24 each

I got 10% off the spacers and 19% off the bolts so a total of £8.08 with the vat for the full kit

The subframe becoming loose and shifting about causing a clunk felt in the footwell area is quite a common fault on the MK5, the bolts are a different and much stronger design and the plates are a locking spacer to help stop them coming loose again,

Replaces the 2 outer subframe mounting bolts and i'd recommend putting the torque wrench on the other bolts when you're under there

Spent a good part of the day in the car today.

"Popped" around to see the Mother In Law  . We live in Sussux, she in Dorset. Normally it's a cruise along Dual Carriage Ways and Motorways and quite frankly is a f**king boring drive!!
Anyway, yesterday I came across this website:-

Has some well known driving roads/routes and loads not so well known. Came across one from my hometown (Horsham) to Winchester and after fully checking out the route decided to have a "blast" along it and  BLOODY HELL that was fun allthough we got lost twice as the sat nav wanted to keep taking us somewhere else to what it considered was a better road.

Mostly A roads and they were really good A roads as well. Got to Winchester and joined the BORING M3 then A303 for rest of journey.
Well and truly gave the car a good spanking  . She loved it, that is to say the car loved it, its like having a puppy dog that doesnt stop wagging its tail and keeps asking for more (how can you refuse). My wife on the other hand, well she let me buy the car!!
You may well has seen this site or similar and if so i bet the first time you drove one of these routes your grin was as big as mine.

Drove back from Cornwall this afternoon in the family Jetta TDI,
and between Exeter and Bridport we were with a Porsche Carrera GT.
Holy smoke, the noise that thing made was amazing,
and although when he was sticking at a decent cruising speed we kept up,
when he nailed it,
the noise and speed of it was just astounding, I've never seen quickness like it!!

Lovely.
And at £350k you would hope so too!!!!

....Was it a silver one on GB plates? Slim guy driving? (I'm based in Bridport and the car is local). I could tell you more about it if it's the same guy - And it's not his only supercar and he didn't pay £350k for it. I met him when I found him admiring my car would you believe!

Right, my second mod to the car was done today ... not by me but the excellent VRS Stu  who installed and coded my Mk5 GTI MFSW with DSG paddles!

Makes such a difference to the driving experience as I never got used to moving the stick forward / back in manual mode.

Next step is either a downpipe & 200-cell cat or a full TBE depending on price, noise & timing.

This forum is a bl**dy nightmare when I'm saving to buy a new house!

Nowt major but something that's been bugging me.  Just replaced both brushed aloominum door trim strips.   Gawd knows what the previous owner had done to them as they were all badly pitted.   

Found Red Robin's How To guide to do this very helpful otherwise I might not have had a go meself.
