Well, removed all the wiring for the old phone kit that was left behind...meant removing the glovebox.

Then once all interior back together moved onto the engine bay.

Removed the engine cover and then pipercross panel filter. Washed with warm water and soap. Rinsed, gently squeezed out the water and left to dry outside. Hadn't been done for almost 20k  :ashamed:

Will refit tomorrow  :happy2:

Had a nice spirited drive back along the empty roads this morning after dropping family at East Midlands Airport! Gotta love early morning on a bank holiday as everyone is in bed hungover!:D

Gave the car a quick scrub and then for a cruise to kenilworth castle and back.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Spent the day wet sanding my knackered corroded headlights. They went from looking like this...

To these beauties...

Looking a million times better. Can't take all the credit though, my amazing wife did one headlight whilst I did the other. I'm a lucky man!!
Also fitted my new Philips X-Treme vision H7 bulbs. Well chuffed!    :happy2:

^^^^ nice one, they look excellent, like new, not surprised your chuffed. Must do mine. Did you machine polish the finish? Know exactly what response I'd get if I asked my wifey to help with this.

Running too much boost turned out to be disappointing at the track with race fuel. With pump fuel it ran great last year, but with race fuel and remap it simply chugged down the track never beating my pump fuel et's. So today I adjusted the w/g actuator to decrease the boost about 5 psi down to 21 to 22 psi peak and 17 to 18 psi to red-line. I had race fuel in it still so I went out for a couple of pulls and it is much stronger than it was at the track. I'm going to get some boost and timing data with vcds both with pump and race fuels to make sure the adjustments are working well and then leaving the w/g actuator alone for good ;]

Cheers. I'm glad I finally got round to it, they look so much better! To finish, I used Meguiars headlight restoration kit. This is the PlastX polish and a buffing pad with an attachment which fits into a drill. You can buy PlastX separately but I didn't have a machine polisher, so the kit was my best solution. It worked very well, much easier than doing it by hand!  Afterwards I sealed the lights with Collinite 476 wax. Hopefully this will protect the finish nicely!

The missus has my car today as I needed her Kuga to shift stuff to the tip. Didn't stop me doing something for the MK5 though - OEM R32 rear tail lights bought today. Hopefully getting them tomorrow. Also booked the car in to get Sportlines fitted and the calipers powder coated.
