Treated the car to a wash with hot water and shampoo, dried off and then returned later to find it had been bird bombed.  :fighting:

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

.
Went to a local hillclimb on Sunday. It's always a good sign when on arrival you spot a few nice cars as you stroll across the car park of an event:

^ Original 1961 Lotus 7. I had a chat with the driver. His passenger said he had never been so scared in his life coming here!

^ An especially nice GTI Mk2 road and track car - Partially stripped out plus roll-cage.

^ *cough* A rather nice GTI Mk5 fast road car *cough*

Pics of the Lamin-X on the headlights and now on the fog lights too  :happy2:

Also, I finally did a mod I had planned years ago.

I used the 1" silver go-faster-stripe that I bought for the grill strip. I stuck the pieces onto the rear boot badge backing plate, and then I popped on the satin black boot badge.

:fighting2:

thank the lord you didnt do those horrid piss yellow fogs  :signLOL:

looks good.

How easy was it to remove the VW bit of the rear handle? I want to do the same but colour code it red with a black VW bit.

Did you buy the black VW bit or wrap your silver one?
How did you find the sticky stuff that is so close to the colour of your car?

It was more luck than management! Its just a 1" Silver go faster stripe that I bought on eBay many moons ago when I covered the red grill strip!

It was a 10m roll of silver vinyl so I had loads left!

Here is a cheap one but you will have to ask em for a pic of the vinyl colour....

This one looks spot on to me, but its more expensive. You can get it in 20mm or 30mm. 20mm is ....

Fitted a middle silencer onto my blueflame today (much quieter)

And 3/4 of my suspension today, ended up having to nip to TPS halfway through to buy new anti roll bar links and track rod ends as they all looked dodgy When removing them,

Got to the driver side front and one of the strut top mount bolts was just spinning, spend 3 hours trying to get the bolt free but had to call it a day,

Car is going into a garage to get the driver side done tomorrow and 4 wheel alinment on Friday
