Went to VW to order a couple of bits and then for a laugh thought I'd ask how much it would be for a new clutch to be fitted, after giving reg plate and saying its a mk5 GTI, i was asked is it a 1.6?!

I love that!  :signLOL:

They won't be getting the job then.

I give up with stealers most of the time. Also having a private plate makes it hard to find on the system for the service department even though its been there twice for a service with private plates as they went on a week after I bought the car :stupid: The parts guys are fine with my private plates, the problem there is VW's over inflated prices for stuff.

Same here! Right PITA when I go in for bits and bobs to be told they can't find the part and can I supply the part number for them!!

I was quoted £85 from the VW Main Dealer last week to change the Fuel Filter, according to them it takes 0.5 hours and labour is £64! Got it done at JKM for less than half including the filter.

That's because the dealers charge their labour in half hour increments. When I did my fuel filter it took about 4 mins to do....

This was just trim parts to do myself, 2 inner door rubber seals for the front doors as mine are falling off are £37.98, think I might get some evo stick or aroldite to refix them or get new ones off ebay for £15 a side

As for the clutch, total price was £876.97, half of that was labour. I only asked for a laugh as it wont be going there for that and to an indy I trust when it needs doing

Renewed the insurance on my stage2+ ed30. The renewal was 905quid but after getting a better quote and then ringing them up to tell them, it magically came down to the same price of 555quid (i hate insurance companies trying it on, hoping people just renew without looking around :fighting:)

Jet sprayed the mkv today and put in the old maf sensor back in. I replaced it in late spring and my mileage went up, but when it cooled down a month ago the mpg dropped again. So I chose to get all I can from the old maf and save the new spare until needed. I need to give it a good hand scrubbing and polish.
